2018 Russian Grand Prix Review

Review of the sixteenth round of the 2018 F1 season at Sochi Autodrom, in Sochi for the Russian Grand Prix.

The race itself was a good race to watch, Valtteri Bottas on pole for the Russian Grand Prix. Bottas took the lead ahead of Current Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel at the start. When the leaders pitted for tyres at lap 19, Max Verstappen took the lead till lap 42.

While Verstappen was leading, on lap 25 Mercedes opted for team orders and asked Valtteri Bottas let Lewis Hamilton through for second place, some people felt it was wrong in my opinion it was right with six rounds of the season to go, Hamilton is fighting for the World Drivers Championship against Vettel, Bottas is not at this stage letting him through was logical and didn't embarrassed the sport either.

When Verstappen pitted for tyres at lap 42, Hamilton took the lead and never looked back to conclude with a race win at this seasons Russian Grand Prix for Lewis Hamilton's eighth race win of the season.

While, Hamilton's team-mate and Valtteri Bottas finished in second place in the other Mercedes to give the team its third one-two finish of the season, Bottas was two and half seconds behind Hamilton at the end.

Meanwhile, Sebastian Vettel finished in third place in the Ferrari to complete the podium, Vettel was seven seconds behind Hamilton at the end of the fifty-three lap race.

With Lewis Hamilton's win in Sochi and Sebastian Vettel only managing a third place finish, but the gap is now improved from forty points to fifty points in the standings with five races to go.

While Mercedes still leads F1 Constructors' Standings, the gap is now gained from thirty-seven points to fifty-three points for Ferrari who are second in the Constructors' Standings with five races to go.
