2022 Japanese Grand Prix Review, Max Verstappen 2022 Formula 1 World Champion for a second time!

Review of the eighteenth round of the 2022 F1 season at Suzuka, Suzuka City for the Japanese Grand Prix.

It was a dominating race weekend from Current Formula 1 World Champion Max Verstappen. Verstappen was on pole for Sunday's race. However, the race was heavily affected by torrential rain, resulting in only 40 minutes worth of racing resulting a twenty-eight lap race. At a wet Japanese Grand Prix. Verstappen took the advantage at the start and comfortably lead the race throughout to win this seasons Japanese Grand Prix for Max Verstappen's twelfth race win of the season.

While, Charles Leclerc finished in second place in the Ferrari. However, he received a five-second time penalty for leaving the track and gaining an advantage, relegating him to third place. With a loophole in the rules reulting in full-points instead of half-points, that was enough for Max Verstappen to win his second F1 World Drivers Championship title and one hundred and thirteen points ahead of team-mate Sergio Pérez who is second in the standings with four races to go. He also become eleventh driver Formula 1 history to win back to back titles and the seventeenth driver in Formula 1 history to win two or more drivers' titles. Confirmed: Nyck de Vries races with Scuderia AlphaTauri F1 Team for 2023

It was confirmed on the eve of qualifying of the Japanese Grand Prix (8/10/22), Mercedes development driver Nyck de Vries will race with the AlphaTauri in Formula 1 next season, replacing Alpine-bound Pierre Gasly.

Nyck de Vries substituted for Alex Albon at Williams at Monza finishing ninth place, scoring points on his race debut. de Vries sits twentieth in the Drivers' Standings, is stepping up to a race seat alongside Yuki Tsunoda for next season.

In my opinion, this was no big surprise this news happen, rumoured since mid-September that de Vries was going to get one of the seats after losing intresting in putting Colton Herta in one of the seats.

Hopefully AlphaTauri team will have a stronger 2023 F1 season with its line-up complete going into 2023.

Confirmed: Pierre Gasly joins Alpine F1 Team for 2023 on a multi-year deal

It was confirmed on the eve of qualifying of the Japanese Grand Prix (8/10/22), that AlphaTauri driver Pierre Gasly will race with Alpine F1 Team as their second driver for 2023 season on a multi-year deal (rumoured till the end of 2025), and completes an all-French line-up alongside Esteban Ocon.

Gasly made his Formula 1 debut with AlphaTauri (Toro Rosso) in 2017. Despite signed to AlphaTauri till the end of 2023. However, an agreement has now been reached, which will see Gasly compete for Alpine in 2023.

This season Gasly currently sits thirteenth in the Drivers' Standings with twenty-three points, with his best race finish of fifth place at Baku.

In my opinion, this is not a big surprise this news happen. It has been strongly rumoured since the Dutch Grand Prix that Gasly was wanted by Alpine.

Its great news for the Alpine team as they have got a talented Grand Prix driver.

Things are looking up for the Alpine team in 2023.

Sky Sports extends exclusive UK rights till 2029

It was confirmed yesterday on the eve of the Singapore Grand Prix (30/9/22) that Formula 1 has extended its exclusive live agreement with Sky Sports to broadcast Formula 1 in the United Kingdom till 2029.

Sky Sports F1 took over rights to broadcast Formula 1 in the UK in 2012 and its current agreement ran through 2024, an extension of the deal, through the 2029 season, was announced by the parties.

Overall, not surprised about the Sky F1 deal going to 2029. Anyone dreaming about a BBC, ITV or a Channel 4 return it wasn’t going to happen due to high costs (rumoured around £250 million per season). Not surprised as well that Sky has Vito to introduce F1TV pro which would been a cheaper option for UK viewers and whould give more viewers to watch F1.

Oh well the status quo conitinuing in Formula 1.
