Its Official - Suzuki leaves MotoGP at the end of 2022 MotoGP season

It was confirmed on Wednesday (13/07/22), Suzuki will leave MotoGP series at the end of the MotoGP 2022 season.

The Hamamatsu-based marque made the shock announcement that it was to quit MotoGP just after the Spanish Grand Prix in early May, despite the manufacture won the MotoGP Cahmpionship with Joan Mir in 2020; though series organisers Dorna soon hit back at its decision due to the brand having last year signed a deal to remain as part of the championship until 2026.

Suzuki revealed in a press release on Wednesday that it had finally managed to work out a deal with Dorna to bring an early end to its shared contract, leaving it clear to quit the series at the end of the year after seven seasons in the series.

The manufacturer cited the decision to “allocate resources on other initiatives for sustainability” as the key reason for its impending exit of international motorsport.

Suzuki riders Joan Mir and Alex Rins currently sits eighth and ninth in the riders standings. The duo look set to join Honda’s ranks for next season, Mir likely to join Marc Marquez within Repsol Honda, while Rins will replace Alex Marquez at LCR Honda next season.

2022 British Grand Prix Review, Carlos Sainz Jr WINS!

Review of the tenth round of the 2022 F1 season at Silverstone, Northamptonshire, for the British Grand Prix.

Overall the race itself was enjoyable, entertaining race to watch and the best race of the season so far.

Carlos Sainz Jr. was on pole for Sunday's race. At a dry British Grand Prix. Max Verstappen took the advantage at the start, the race was red flag after Pierre Gasly and George Russell made contact and caused Russell to lose control and hit Guanyu Zhou. The impact flipped Zhou's car and he skid across the track upside down. His car bounced over the tyre barrier, hit the catch fencing and came to a rest wedged in a small gap between the fence and tyre barrier.

Thankfully, Guanyu Zhou was able to escape with help from the medical crew and race marshals. Whatever is your opinion about the halo on the Formula 1 car, halo has done its job for saving Zhou's life.

60 Minutes later for the restart of the race, Sainz Jr. took the lead at the start ahead of Verstappen. Until lap 10 when Verstappen took the lead, until lap 12, Verstappen later ran over debris, that resulted in a loss of pace giving Sainz Jr. the lead again. By lap 21 Charles Leclerc took the lead after Sainz Jr. pitted for tyres.

With Ferrari set to win the race until lap 38 when Esteban Ocon retire with a broken fuel pump at copse corner resulting the safety car deployed. Leclerc didn't pit for tyres stayed on his hard tyres while Sainz Jr. Sir Lewis Hamilton and Sergio Pérez pitted for new soft tyres. A move Ferrari will wan't to forget for not pitting Leclerc when needed to. On lap 43, when the safety car went back into the pits Sainz Jr. took the lead ahead of Leclerc, while Leclerc finished fourth in the end. After overtaking his team-mate it was Carlos Sainz Jr. day, winning his first ever Grand Prix win to win this seasons British Grand Prix.

While, Sergio Pérez finished in second place in the Red Bull, Pérez was four seconds behind Sainz Jr. at the end.

Meanwhile, Sir Lewis Hamilton finished in third place in the Mercedes to complete the podium, Hamilton was six seconds behind Sainz Jr. at the end.

Finally, Haas driver Mick Schumacher eighth place, giving him his first point finish in Formula 1, first time the Schumacher name is in the points since his father Michael Schumacher finished seventh at the Brazilian Grand Prix in 2012. Schumacher was eighteen seconds behind Sainz Jr. at the end of the fifty-two lap race.
