Confirmed: Ferrari retains Sebastian Vettel till 2020

It was confirmed before qualifying at the Belgian Grand Prix (26/8/17) that Ferrari will retain four-times Formula 1 World Champion Sebastian Vettel through to the end of the 2020 Formula 1 season and alongside Kimi Räikkönen for the 2018 F1 season.

Vettel's current Ferrari deal was set to expire at the end of the season and he had hinted that he was in no hurry to sort his future. But, Ferrari confirmed on Saturday that Vettel has signed a new contract covering the next three seasons.

Vettel joined Ferrari from Red Bull in 2015, after winning four world titles at Red Bull; Vettel currently leads the Drivers' Championship with nine rounds to go with a fourteen point lead over Mercedes rival Lewis Hamilton. With a best finish of four Grand Prix wins at Australia, Bahrain, Monaco and Hungary so far this season.

Overall, a very good decision from Ferrari to keep Sebastian Vettel for next three seasons. Although, there were some rumours he might jump ship to Mercedes in 2018, with recent Räikkönen deal sorted, it made scene for Vettel to stay at Ferrari for next season at least. My guess Vettel will win a Drivers' Championship for Ferrari, will be a matter of when its this season or the next.
