It was confirmed on Friday Afternoon (11/11/16) that Haas F1 Team will retain Romain Grosjean for the 2017 Formula 1 season. While, Renault driver Kevin Magnussen will race with the team as their second driver for 2017 season on a multi-year deal.
Magnussen made his Formula 1 debut with McLaren in 2014 and claimed a second place finish in his first race, but was replaced by Fernando Alonso for 2015, instead occupying a reserve driver for 2015.
Magnussen was handed a second chance in the sport when Renault required a replacement for Pastor Maldonado prior to the start of 2016 and scored points in Russia and Singapore, with Russia his best result so far this season in seventh place.
His exit from Renault was confirmed on Wednesday when the team announced that it had retained Jolyon Palmer alongside incoming Force India racer Nico Hülkenberg for 2017 F1 season.
Magnussen's switch to Haas has now been confirmed, the Dane replaces Esteban Gutiérrez, who has so far this season failed to score a point upon his return to the sport in 2016.
In my opinion, this is not a big surprise this news happen. It has been strongly rumoured since the Mexican Grand Prix that Magnussen has signed a deal with Renault. As for Esteban Gutiérrez, my guess a return to Ferrari as their test-driver perhaps.
Things are looking up for Haas in 2017.
