Recap of the last round of WRC from last weekends Round thirteen of Rally Australia.
Last weekend was the thirteenth and final round of the 2016 World Rally Championship at Rally Australia (18th-20th November) was won by Andreas Mikkelsen to win the rally overall in the works Volkswagen Polo R WRC.
While, current WRC champion Sébastien Ogier finished second in the other works Volkswagen Polo R WRC to complete Volkswagen one-two finish in their final WRC round. Ogier was fifteen seconds behind Mikkelsen at the end. Meanwhile, Thierry Neuville finished in third place in the works Hyundai i20 WRC, Neuville was seventy-two seconds behind Mikkelsen at the end.
Meanwhile in WRC-2 class (Group R5, R4, Super 2000 and Group N4 spec cars), that was won by Škoda Motorsport driver Esapekka Lappi in his Škoda Fabia R5. Esapekka Lappi finished in eighth place overall, he was seven and half minutes behind Mikkelsen at the end of the rally. The win was enough to give Esapekka Lappi the 2016 WRC-2 championship; contracts to Esapekka Lappi for winning this years WRC-2 championship.
While in WRC-3 class (Group R1, R2 and R3 cars) that was won by Saintéloc Junior Team driver Michel Fabre in his Citroën DS3 R3T. Michel Fabre finished in nineteenth place overall, he was forty-one minutes behind Mikkelsen at the end of the rally.
