2017 24 Hours of Le Mans Review

As the title says above a 24 Hours of Le Mans Review of the race. Round three for 2017 FIA World Endurance Championship at Le Mans. And this years 24 hours of Le Mans race will be remembered for the race for Porsche winning their nineteen outright win at Le Mans.

This was a cat and mouse race between #1 and #2 Porsche's, #7 and #8 Toyota's. But, come the fourth hour, #2 Porsche's motor generator unit failed on the #2 Porsche dropping them 18 laps behind the leaders.

By the seventh hour it was Toyota turn of misery, the #8 Toyota dropped out of contention with an MGU issue when running second, caused it to drop 30 laps to fix the problem. By the eleventh hour the #7 Toyota retired with clutch problems, then minutes later #9 Toyota retired of the race after being hit by the #25 Manor.

With the #1 Porsche leading through the night, leading comfortably ahead of LMP2 cars. By the twenty-first hour, #1 Porsche ground to a halt with a lack of oil pressure with three hours left. At the time it had a massive lead of 13 laps. Meaning, #38 Jackie Chan DC Racing was now leading with three hours to go with #2 Porsche un-lapping itself with two laps behind the leaders. By twenty-third hour #2 Porsche un-laped itself two more time to take the lead into the final hour, leading comfortably to the end to give Porsche their nineteenth outright win at Le Mans.



The Porsche Team won the race overall and the LMP1 class too of Timo Bernhard, Brendon Hartley and Earl Bamber in their Porsche 919 Hybrid and managed to do 367 laps altogether in dry and hot conditions to win this years 24 Hours of Le Mans race.

While second was the Jackie Chan DC Racing team of Ho-Pin Tung, Thomas Laurent and Oliver Jarvis in their Oreca 07 claiming LMP2 class as-well, they were a lap behind the leaders at the end of the race.



Meanwhile, third place was the Vaillante Rebellion team of Nelson Piquet Jr., Mathias Beche and David Heinemeier Hansson in their Oreca 07, they were three laps behind the leaders at the end of the race.



While, the remaining Toyota TS050 Hybrid came in ninth place in the hands of Sébastien Buemi, Kazuki Nakajima and Anthony Davidson. They were nine laps behind the leaders at the end.

While in GTE Pro class, was won by Aston Martin Racing team of Darren Turner, Jonathan Adam and Daniel Serra won in their Aston Martin Vantage GTE. They finish in eighteenth place overall and they were twenty-seven laps behind the leaders at the end of the race.

While in GTE Am class, was won by JMW Motorsport team of Robert Smith, Will Stevens and Dries Vanthoor in their Ferrari 488 GTE. They finish in twenty-seventh place overall and they were thirty-four laps behind the leaders at the end of the race.
