Top six best Sauber F1 cars ever! Celebrating 400 Grand Prixs

To Celebrate Sauber's 400th Grand Prix start coming up at this weekends United States Grand Prix. To celebrate this, this post is the top six best Sauber F1 cars ever! (note, BMW did own 80% of the team between 2006 and 2009 with Peter Sauber still owning 20%, so therefore they're still Sauber F1 cars in that period) Starting with number 6:



Number 6: 2004 Sauber C23
Story:
Sauber C23 was designed by Willy Rampf, the Sauber C23 had the 3 litre Petronas (Ferrari) V10 engine underneath. Sauber C23 took two top four finishes in that season with Giancarlo Fisichella and Felipe Massa each taking a fourth place finish. The C23 took Sauber to sixth place in the Constructors' standings in 2004 with 34 points.



Number 5: 2006 BMW Sauber F1.06
Story:
BMW Sauber F1.06 was designed by Willy Rampf, the BMW Sauber F1.06 had the 2.4 litre BMW V8 engine underneath. BMW Sauber F1.06 took third places finishes in that season with Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld each taking a third place finish. The BMW Sauber F1.06 took BMW Sauber to fifth place in the Constructors' standings with 36 points.



Number 4: 2012 Sauber C31
Story:
Sauber C23 was designed by James Key and Matt Morris, the Sauber C31 had the 2.4 litre Ferrari V8 engine underneath. Sauber C31 took two fastest laps, one each for Kamui Kobayashi and Sergio Pérez. Four podiums, which include one for Kamui Kobayashi at his home Grand Prix the Japanese Grand Prix to finish in third place. While, Sergio Pérez took two third place finishes at Montreal and Monza; and a second place for Sergio Pérez at the Malaysian Grand Prix where he could have won the race. Overall the Sauber C31 took Sauber to sixth place in the Constructors' standings with 126 points.



Number 3: 2001 Sauber C20
Story:
Sauber C23 was designed by Sergio Rinland, the Sauber C20 had the 3 litre Petronas (Ferrari) V10 engine underneath. Sauber C20 took a third place finish with Nick Hiedfied at that seasons Brazilian Grand Prix, with three top four finishes as-well, with Nick Hiedfied taking one and two for Kimi Räikkönen in his debut season in Formula 1. The Sauber C20 took Sauber to fourth place in the Constructors' standings in 2001, the highest for the team as a privateer with 21 points.





Number 2: 2007 BMW Sauber F1.07
Story:
BMW Sauber F1.07 was designed by Jörg Zander, the BMW Sauber F1.07 had the 2.4 litre BMW V8 engine underneath. BMW Sauber F1.07 took one third places finishes at the Hunganoring and one second place finish at Montreal both with Nick Heidfeld.



Also, Sebastian Vettel debut with the car at the United States Grand Prix and finishing in eighth place in his only race for the team after Robert Kubica's violent crash at the 2007 Canadian Grand Prix.



Overall, the BMW Sauber F1.07 took BMW Sauber to second place in the Constructors' standings (after McLaren lost all their points in the Constructors' Championship as a result of a World Motorsport Council decision over the espionage controversy) with 101 points.

Number 1: 2008 BMW Sauber F1.08
Story:
BMW Sauber F1.08 was designed by Willy Rampf, the BMW Sauber F1.08 had the 2.4 litre BMW V8 engine underneath. The BMW Sauber F1.08 took an impressive one two finish with Robert Kubica taking the win and Nick Hiedfied finishing in second place at that seasons Canadian Grand Prix, the Sauber Team's only Grand Prix win to date. Overall, the BMW Sauber F1.08 took a race win, seven second place finishes, three third place finishes, two fastest laps, one pole position, 135 points in 2008 F1 season, took Robert Kubica to equal third in the F1 drivers' standings in 2008, and BMW Sauber to third place in the Constructor standings in 2008.





To give this 2008 BMW Sauber F1.08 the best Sauber F1 car ever! And many 400 Grand Prixs more.
