Recap of the last round of WRC from last weekends Round twelve of Rally de Catalunya.
Last weekends was the twelfth round of the World Rally Championship at the Rally de Catalunya (24th-26th October). Current WRC Champion Sébastien Ogier crashed out while comfortably leading on the last stage of the rally to give Andreas Mikkelsen in the works Volkswagen Polo R WRC to win the rally overall and his first WRC win.
Meanwhile, team-mate Jari-Matti Latvala finished second in the other works Volkswagen Polo R WRC, Latvala was 3 seconds behind Mikkelsen at the end. While, Dani Sordo finished in third place in the works Hyundai i20 WRC. Sordo was 21 seconds behind Mikkelsen at the end of the rally.
Meanwhile in WRC-2 class (Group R5, R4, Super 2000 and Group N4 spec cars), that was won by Pontus Tidemand in the Škoda Motorsport Team, Škoda Fabia R5. Pontus Tidemand finished in ninth place overall, he was 9 minutes behind Mikkelsen at the end of the rally.
While, Nasser Al-Attiyah finished in twelfth place overall and third place in WRC-2 class in his own backed Škoda Fabia R5, he was over 13 minutes behind Mikkelsen at the end; and that was enough to give Nasser Al-Attiyah the 2015 WRC-2 championship and to retain WRC-2 championship from 2014; contracts to Nasser Al-Attiyah for winning this years WRC-2 championship once again.
While in WRC-3 class (Group R1, R2 and R3 cars) that was won by Quentin Gilbert in his own backed Citroën DS3 R3T. Quentin Gilbert finished in eighteenth place overall, he was 25 minutes behind Mikkelsen at the end of the rally. With that result, Quentin Gilbert did clinched the WRC-3 and J-WRC Championships this season in his own backed Citroën DS3 R3T, contracts to Quentin Gilbert for winning the WRC-3 and J-WRC Championships.
