2015 Australian MotoGP Review

Review of round sixteen of the 2015 MotoGP season at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circult, Phillip Island, south-southeast of Melbourne, for the Australian GP.

In the MotoGP race (V-twin, V4, or Inline-four 1000cc four stroke class), that was won by Repsol Honda Team rider and current MotoGP champion Marc Márquez on his works Honda RC213V. Second place was Movistar Yamaha MotoGP rider Jorge Lorenzo on his works Yamaha YZR-M1, he was a quarter of a second behind Márquez at the end. While, third was Ducati Team rider Andrea Iannone on his works Ducati Desmosedici GP15, he was nine tenths of a second behind Márquez at the end of the race.

In Open class (Full control ECU system, hardware and software), LCR Honda rider Jack Miller won Open class and finished fifteenth place overall on his Honda RC213V-RS, he was forty seconds behind Márquez at the end.

In the Moto2 race (Inline-four 600 cc four-stroke class), that race was won by Paginas Amarillas HP 40 rider Álex Rins on the Kalex. Second was Speed Up Racing rider Sam Lowes on the Speed Up, he was seven seconds behind Rins at the end of the race. While, third was Forward Racing rider Lorenzo Baldassarri on the Kalex, he was ten seconds behind Rins at the end of the race.

While in the Moto3 race (single-cylinder 250 cc four-stroke class), that race was won by Red Bull KTM Ajo rider Miguel Oliveira on the KTM. Second was Leopard Racing rider Efrén Vázquez on the Honda, he was just thirteen hundredths of a second behind Oliveira at the end of the race. While, third was the other Red Bull KTM Ajo rider Brad Binder on the KTM, he was just sixteen hundredths of a second behind Oliveira at the end of the race.

Meanwhile, it was confirmed last week (15/10/15) that Estrella Galicia Marc VDS team has signed LCR Honda rider Jack Miller for the 2016 MotoGP season.



Miller currently sits eighteenth in the championship, with a best finish of eleventh place from Barcelona in June, will switch over to the Estrella Galicia Marc VDS team with outgoing Moto2 Champion Esteve "Tito" Rabat as his team-mate for 2016.

While Miller's current team LCR Honda will be only an one bike team of Cal Crutchlow for 2016.

And finally, it was confirmed on Saturday (17/10/15) that Aspar MotoGP Team will switch from using Honda to Ducati bikes next year, with Eugene Laverty remains for next season alongside Octo Pramac Racing rider Yonny Hernández for the 2016 MotoGP season.



Aspar MotoGP Team currently uses the Honda's RC213V-RS in the Open class for the last two seasons, will compete with Ducati's Desmosedici GP14.2 bikes for 2016.
