Charles Pic has parted company with Caterham

Caterham team boss Cyril Abiteboul has confirmed in a television interview in France that Charles Pic, who joined the team on a multi-year agreement ahead of the 2013 campaign, has lost his seat.

Pic, made his Formula 1 debut with Marussia back in 2012, before switching to Caterham in 2013.

Last year, the Frenchman partnered Giedo van der Garde at Caterham, whose future at the team is also in doubt.

"Unfortunately, Charles will not be with us [in 2014]," Abiteboul said in an interview with France's Infosport+.

"It is unfortunate that the partnership has ended. However, I want to thank Charles for the job he did last year."

Not a surprise with the news in my opinion that Pic was dropped from Caterham, I felt that he wasn't impressive last season and wasn't as fast as his team-mate Giedo van der Garde from last season, he wasn't as fast or dominating as his pervious team-mate Timo Glock two seasons back at Marussia either.

No word of yet who will be driving at Caterham this season. But, strong rumours are reporting that former Toyota and Sauber driver Kamui Kobayashi and long-time GP2 racer Marcus Ericsson will be driving for the team next season. But, an official announcement is expected on Tuesday morning (21/1/14).

End of blog for now. New post soon. Bye.
