This weekends was round twelve of the World Rally Championship at the Rally d'Italia — Sardegna (18th-21st October) was won by Mikko Hirvonen in his Citroen DS3, who won the rally by over 80 seconds ahead of M-Sport rally driver Evgeny Novikov in his Ford Fiesta RS who finished in second place. While, Novikov M-Sport team-mate Ott Tänak finished third in his Ford Fiesta RS.
Meanwhile, current and nine times WRC champion Sébastien Loeb crashed out of the start of the second day, were his Citroen DS3 hit some rocks on the third stage, with his car suffered steering problems, which damaged his DS3 and retired from the rally for good.

Meanwhile last weekend, was round twelve of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge was at the Rally Sanremo (12-13th October) was won by 2007 IRC champion Giandomenico Basso in his Ford Fiesta RRC and second Intercontinental Rally Challenge victory of 2012, 35 seconds ahead of works Škoda driver Jan Kopecky in his Škoda Fabia S2000 who finished in second place in the rally. While, Alessandro Perico finished third in his Peugeot 207 S2000.
Current IRC champion and championship leader Andreas Mikkelsen did not take part of this rally. Kopecky's second place brings him to within 35 points of Andreas Mikkelsen heading into next month's double-points finale in Cyprus for the Rally of Cyprus. While former IRC champion Juho Hanninen who is 43 points behind Andreas Mikkelsen in the standings. Also, still have a mathematical chance despite crashing and landing on top of a house on Friday night stage.
