Confirmed: Michael Schumacher to retire at the end of 2012

Following last week's announcement that Lewis Hamilton will replace Michael Schumacher at Mercedes next season. It was announced this morning at a press conference at Suzuka that Michael Schumacher will retire from Formula 1 at the end of the 2012 season.

Since last week that Lewis Hamilton will replace Michael Schumacher at Mercedes next season. Speculation had linked Schumacher to a move to Sauber. But, instead the former seven F1 world champion decided to retire at the end of the season.

Like I said a few months back, apart of some great qualifying performances which includes Monaco and China, and the race performance at Valencia to finish in third place, the last two and a half seasons is has been unsuccessful return into Formula One in my opinion. Due to he hasn't won a race in the last two and half season so far and for the last two and half seasons Nico Rosberg has beaten the old seven times world champion time and time again. To me, he should retire for good at the end of the season in my opinion. I think Michael has done the right decision, if not it might ruin his legacy even more if he stayed.

In my opinion is the best driver I have ever seen in Formula 1 despite the last two and half seasons. I hope Michael will stay in motorsports in some sort of way, such as a role in Ferrari/Mercedes ambassador or race for Mercedes in DTM or World GT1 in 2013 because he can still be a big help in that region.

I hope, when we get to the last round at Sao Paulo, Brazil in late November that Michael Schumacher does have another repeat what he did in Brazil 2006 (the first time he retired from F1) does a performance to remember him by.

Six more races to go for Michael Schumacher for good starting with Suzuka this weekend. Anyway end of post/blog for now. New post/blog soon. Bye.
