Mercedes to Enter V8 Supercars in 2013 - but, will not receive any factory support

Back in mid February, Nissan comfirmed it will Enter V8 Supercars in 2013, under its new rules ‘Car of the Future’. Three weeks back, the news that Mercedes will join the V8 Supercars Championship in 2013 as the forth manufacture in the series (well sort of).

One of V8 Supercars’ longest serving teams Stone Brothers Racing will merge with Austrian GT championship team Erebus Motorsport to run three Mercedes-Benz AMG E Class V8 Supercars in the Championship from 2013.

Unlike Nissan, who will enter Kelly Racing as Nissan's factory team and will run four cars next year. But, Erebus Motorsport will not not be an official factory-backed effort for Mercedes but will be a privately funded team instead. similar to a few BTCC teams on the grid who build the car themselves, but not manufactured supported.

Early in the season I hoped that Nissan will bring the Nissan GT-R in a V8 spec car will be nice in my opinion, like they do in GT1-World Championship last season. But, recently been annocced that Nissan will bring in the Nissan Altima instead. Also Kelly Racing, who will run the four works Nissan Altima next season, will be renamed to Nissan Motorsport next season.

By the way, this weekend is the famous Bathurst 1000 race on the famous Mount Panorama Circuit in Bathurst, New South Wales. Highlights of last years race below, enjoy.

End of blog/post for now, new post soon. That is all. Bye.
