2022 Extreme E Championship Round 5 Recap - Energy X-Prix , New Champions!

Review of Round Five of the 2022 Extreme E Championship season was the Energy X-Prix at Punta del Este, Uruguay.

In Qualifying, Veloce Racing lead qualifying with the team of Molly Taylor and Kevin Hansen.

In the first Semi-Final race that was won by Veloce Racing with the team of Molly Taylor and Kevin Hansen. Second was Abt Cupra XE with the team of Jutta Kleinschmidt amd Nasser Al-Attiyah, they were seven seconds behind the leaders in the end. While, third was GMC Hummer EV Chip Ganassi Racing with the team of Sara Price and RJ Anderson , they were twenty-two seconds behind the leaders in the end.

In the second Semi-Final race that was won by Genesys Andretti United Extreme E with the team of Catie Munnings and Timmy Hansen. Second was Neom McLaren Extreme E with the team of Emma Gilmour and Tanner Foust, they were eight seconds behind the leaders in the end. While, third was Acciona/Sainz XE Team with the team of Carlos Sainz and Laia Sanz, they were sixteen seconds behind the leaders in the end.

In the Crazy Race that was won by X44 Vida Carbon Racing with the team of Sébastien Loeb and Cristina Gutiérrez. Second was Xite Energy Racing with the team of Ezequiel Pérez Companc and Tamara Molinaroa, they were thirty-eight seconds behind the leaders in the end. While, third was JBXE with the team of Fraser McConnell and Hedda Hosås, they were two laps behind the leaders in the end.

In the Final race, Abt Cupra XE took the race win with the team of Jutta Kleinschmidt amd Nasser Al-Attiyah. Second was McLaren Extreme E with the team of Emma Gilmour and Tanner Foust, were three and half seconds behind the leaders in the end. While, third was X44 Vida Carbon Racing with the team of Sébastien Loeb and Cristina Gutiérrez, they were ten seconds behind the leaders in the end. Enough for Sébastien Loeb and Cristina Gutiérrez to win his first Drivers' Championship this season by five points ahead of title rivals Johan Kristoffersson and Molly Taylor.

Also, it was enough for the X44 Vida Carbon Racing Team to win this seasons Teams' Championship to give the team their first Team's Championship by two points ahead of Rosberg X Racing.
