Before I start, Motorsport is dangerous sport. No matter if its Go-Karting, motorbikes, Formula 1, Indy Car, any kind of Motorsport is dangerous, but Motorsport can be safer between tracks, fans, spectators, tracks marshals, people in pits, cars and drivers too.
Moto3 rider Jason Dupasquier died this morning (30/5/2021) following an accident in qualifying for the Moto3 round at Mugello.
Dupasquier was involved in a crash with Ayumu Sasaki and Jeremy Alcoba near the end of the day's qualifying session.
Dupasquier fall between turns nine and ten and was hit by his own motorbike, and then by Sasaki's; the session was red-flagged immediately. In a later interview, Alcoba stated that he thought he had also run over Dupasquier. FIM medical intervention vehicles quickly arrived at the site and the rider was treated on the track for about 30 minutes prior to a medical helicopter arriving and airlifting him to hospital.
Dupasquier's death is the first fatality in MotoGP series since Luis Salom's crash in the 2016 during pratice for the Barcelona Moto2.
Condolences goes to Jason's family and friends, Dupasquier current sits tenth in the Moto3 standings with best finsih of seventh place at Jerez.
Rest in Peace Jason Dupasquier, you will be much missed.
