It's Official: Jenson Button replaces Fernando Alonso for Monaco Grand Prix

It was confirmed on Friday (14/4/17), 2009 F1 World Champion Jenson Button will return to Formula 1, driving for McLaren at next month's Monaco Grand Prix, in place of the Indianapolis 500 bound Fernando Alonso.

Button, took a sabbatical from Formula 1 at the end of the 2016 season enabling Stoffel Vandoorne to debut for McLaren in 2017, while remained contracted to McLaren as an ambassador and reserve driver, with the the team holding an option for him to return as a race driver in 2018.

It was announced on Wednesday that Alonso will participate in a one-car McLaren team at the Indianapolis 500, meaning that he would miss the clashing Monaco Grand Prix.

Overall, no surprise with Jenson Button replacing Fernando Alonso for the Monaco Grand Prix, he was only reasonable choice for McLaren.

One more time around the streets of Monaco for Jenson Button.
