2017 BTCC Round 2 Recap

Review of Round Two of the 2017 British Touring Car Championship season was at Donington Park's National Circuit, in Leicestershire.

In the first race, Laser Tools Racing driver Aiden Moffat took the race win in his Mercedes-Benz A-Class and also took Independents class win. Second was Halfords Yuasa Racing driver Matt Neal in his Honda Civic Type R, he was fifteen tenths of a second behind Moffat in the end. While third place was Handy Motorsport driver Rob Austin in his Toyota Avensis (2012), he was two seconds behind Moffat in the end.

While, Jack Sears Trophy (for top 'Rookie Driver' in the series) was won by Power Maxed Racing driver Senna Proctor in his Vauxhall Astra, he finished in fourteenth place and was twenty seconds behind Moffat in the end.


Meanwhile in the second race, Speedworks Motorsport driver Tom Ingram took the race win in his Toyota Avensis (2015) and also took Independents class win. Second was Team BMW driver Rob Collard in his BMW 125i M Sport, he was four seconds behind Ingram in the end. While third place was Adrian Flux Subaru Racing driver Ashley Sutton in his Subaru Levorg GT, he was over four seconds behind Ingram in the end.

While, Jack Sears Trophy was won by AmD Tuning driver Ant Whorton-Eales in his Audi S3 Saloon, he finished in twelfth place and was twenty-eight seconds behind Ingram in the end.


Finally in the third race, Halfords Yuasa Racing driver and current BTCC Champion Gordon Shedden took the race win in his Honda Civic Type R. However Gordon Shedden was later excluded from race three due to failing the ride height test after the race.

Therefore, Team BMW driver Colin Turkington took the race win in his BMW 125i M Sport. Second was Ciceley Motorsport with MAC Tools driver Adam Morgan in his Mercedes-Benz A-Class and also took Independents class win, he was nine seconds behind Turkington in the end. While third place was Adrian Flux Subaru Racing driver Ashley Sutton in his Subaru Levorg GT, he was over nine seconds behind Turkington in the end.

While, Jack Sears Trophy was won by Power Maxed Racing driver Senna Proctor in his Vauxhall Astra, he finished in tenth place and was nineteen seconds behind Turkington in the end.


Next stop Thruxton for Round Three of the 2017 British Touring Car Championship season in three weeks time.
