To Celebrate Jenson Button's 300th Grand Prix start coming up at this weekends Malaysian Grand Prix were he becomes the third driver in history to complete cover 300 Grand Prixs. To celebrate this, this post is the top six best Jenson Button F1 drives of all time. There were so many races to choose from, if there any races I have missed this is only my opinion folks.
Starting with number 6:
Number 6: 2009 Brazilian Grand Prix
Story: The penultimate round in the 2009 F1 season. Button started in fourteenth place. Button knew he had nothing to lose and everything to gain in this race, and knew he could seal the championship here by overtaking the likes of Romain Grosjean, Kazuki Nakajima, Kamui Kobayashi, and Sébastien Buemi to finish in fifth place, meaning Button clinched his only World Driver's title in his entire F1 career.
Number 5: 2009 Austrian Grand Prix
Story: The start of the 2009 season at Melbourne in Australia, where there was uncertainty if Jenson Button would race in Australia after his team Honda pulled out of the sport at the end of 2008 F1 season. Then came Brawn GP, whose owner Ross Brawn had bought out Honda Racing F1 with three weeks before the season starts. By qualifying, Button took a dominating pole position ahead of team-mate Rubens Barrichello. Then in the race it was Jenson Button show, Button dominated the race, leading all the laps and leading a Brawn one two finish to win that seasons Australian Grand Prix for Jenson's second Grand Prix win in his career.
Number 4: 2011 Japanese Grand Prix
Story: Throughout the race there was a great battle between Jenson Button, Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel. Vettel took the lead at the start of the race, until lap 23, when Button took the lead after the first set of pit-stops, but he wasn't finish there, Button had Fernando Alonso behind him and trying to take the lead. But, Button hold onto the lead and stayed there and finished off with a race win and his third race win of the season for Button, while Sebastian Vettel finished third and won his second drivers' title as-well.
Number 3: 2004 German Grand Prix
Story: Button started in fourth place, however an engine change to his Honda V10 meant he was relegated to fourteenth place. An overtaking master-class in the race for Button, includes overtaking both Juan Pablo Montoya and Fernando Alonso gives Jenson Button a second place finish behind Michael Schumacher. If, Button didn't had an engine penalty in the race Jenson Button might have won his first Grand Prix.
Number 2: 2006 Hungarian Grand Prix
Story: Button started in fourth place, once again an engine change to his Honda V8 meant he was relegated to fourteenth place. In a wet Hungarian Grand Prix, he had nothing to lose and everything to gain in this race had another overtaking master-class and overtake the likes of Michael Schumacher and Giancarlo Fisichella, and the luck of both Fernando Alonso and Kimi Räikkönen retiring while leading. Gave Jenson Button his first Grand Prix win of his career in wet to dry conditions.
Number 1 2011 Canadian Grand Prix
Story: In a wet Canadian Grand Prix, Jenson Button had first half of the race to forget including colliding with team-mate Lewis Hamilton which received him a drive through penalty, also colliding with Fernando Alonso which included a punctured tyre after the collision and was in twenty-first and last place by lap 35 and looking certain not to score points.
But, the safety car came out, he immediately began to make up positions and was fourteenth by lap 44. By lap 51, Button had risen to fourth place, and was catching the leading trio of Sebastian Vettel, Michael Schumacher and Mark Webber. On lap 64, Button passed both Webber and Schumacher on the same lap in other great overtaking master-class and gained second place.
As Button began catching race leader Vettel, which include fastest lap of the race. Onto lap 70 and the final lap, Button was a second behind race leader Vettel looking curtain to win the race, until Vettel ran wide at turn six. Button passed him to take the lead, and held it to win an action pack race to give Jenson Button his greatest drive in Formula 1.
