2016 BTCC Round 10 Recap, Gordon Shedden 2016 BTCC Champion!

Review of Round Ten and the final round of the 2016 British Touring Car Championship season was at Brands Hatch's Grand Prix Circuit, in Kent.

In the first race, Silverline Subaru BMR Racing driver Colin Turkington took the race win in his Subaru Levorg GT. Second was Handy Motorsport driver Rob Austin in his Toyota Avensis and also took Independents class win too, he was four and half seconds behind Turkington in the end. While, third was MG Racing RCIB Insurance driver Josh Cook in his MG6 GT, he was five seconds behind Turkington in the end.

While, Jack Sears Trophy (for top 'Rookie Driver' in the series) was won by MG Racing RCIB Insurance driver Ashley Sutton in his MG6 GT, he finished in ninth place and was eighteen seconds behind Turkington in the end.


Meanwhile in the second race, once again Silverline Subaru BMR Racing driver Colin Turkington took the race win in his Subaru Levorg GT. Second was Silverline Subaru BMR Racing driver Jason Plato in his Subaru Levorg GT, he was a second behind Turkington in the end. While, third was Halfords Yuasa Racing driver and current BTCC Champion Gordon Shedden in his Honda Civic Type R, he was a second and a half behind Turkington in the end.

Meanwhile, Independents class was won by Laser Tools Racing driver Aiden Moffat in his Mercedes-Benz A-Class, he finished in sixth place and was three seconds behind Turkington in the end.

While, Jack Sears Trophy was won by RCIB Insurance Racing driver Michael Epps in his Toyota Avensis, he finished in sixteenth place and was fourteen seconds behind Turkington in the end.


While in the third race, Motorbase Performance driver Mat Jackson took the race win in his Ford Focus ST and also took Independents class win too. Second was Laser Tools Racing driver Aiden Moffat in his Mercedes-Benz A-Class, he was a second behind Jackson in the end. While, third place was Halfords Yuasa Racing driver and current BTCC Champion Gordon Shedden in his Honda Civic Type R, he was a second and a half behind Jackson in the end and enough for Gordon Shedden to be 2016 BTCC Drivers' Champion for his third title to beat Sam Tordoff by only two points in the last round of the year.



While, Jack Sears Trophy was won by Speedworks Motorsport driver Matt Simpson in his Honda Civic Type R, he finished in eighteenth place and was ten seconds behind Jackson in the end.


And so, this years champions, Gordon Shedden took the BTCC Drivers' Championship. BMW / West Surrey Racing took the Manufacturers'/Constructors' Championship. Team JCT600 with GardX took the Teams' Championship. While, Andrew Jordan took the Independents' Trophy. While, Motorbase Performance took Independent Teams' Trophy. And Ashley Sutton took the Jack Sears Trophy.


That's the end of 2016 British Touring Car Championship season. Contracts to the Champions in BTCC this season. And now for the 2017 Season.
