2017 Dutch MotoGP Review, Rider News

Review of the round eight of the 2017 MotoGP season at TT Circuit Assen, Assen in North East of Holland.

In the MotoGP race (V-twin, V4, or Inline-four 1000cc four stroke class), that race was won by Movistar Yamaha MotoGP rider Valentino Rossi on his works Yamaha YZR-M1.



Second was Octo Pramac Racing rider Danilo Petrucci on his Ducati Desmosedici GP17, he was seven hundredths of a second behind Rossi at the end.



While, third was Repsol Honda Team rider and current MotoGP champion Marc Marquez on his works Honda RC213V, he was five seconds behind Rossi at the end of the race.



In the Moto2 race (Inline-four 600 cc four-stroke class), that race was won by EG 0,0 Marc VDS rider Franco Morbidelli on the Kalex. Second was CarXpert Interwetten rider Thomas Lüthi on the Kalex, he was two tenths of a second behind Morbidelli at the end of the race. While, third was Idemitsu Honda Team Asia rider Takaaki Nakagami on the Kalex, he was six tenths of a second behind Morbidelli at the end of the race.

While in the Moto3 race (single-cylinder 250 cc four-stroke class), that race was won by Estrella Galicia 0,0 rider Arón Canet on the Honda. Second was Marinelli Rivacold Snipers rider Romano Fenati on the Honda, he was four hundredths of a second behind Canet at the end of the race. While, third was British Talent Team rider John McPhee on the Honda, he was a tenth of a second behind Canet at the end of the race.


It was confirmed on Friday (23/6/17), that Cal Crutchlow will remain with LCR Honda till 2019 after signing a new two year deal to remain with LCR Honda, ending recent speculation over his future at the team.



Crutchlow currently sits ninth in the championship, with a best finish of a third place finish from Argentina in April.

Finally, it was confirmed on Sunday (25/6/17), Moto2 rider Franco Morbidelli will graduate to MotoGP next year with the EG 0,0 Marc VDS MotoGP team for the 2018 MotoGP season.



Morbidelli sits as Moto2 championship leader winning five Moto2 wins, Morbidelli will either replace Jack Miller and Tito Rabat (who is more than likely to leave the team next season to Avintia Racing for 2018) for next season.
