2020 BTCC Round 1 Recap

Review of Round One of the 2020 British Touring Car Championship season was at Donington Park's National Circuit, in Leicestershire.

In the first race, Halfords Yuasa Racing driver Dan Cammish took the race win in his Honda Civic Type R (FK8). Second was Team BMW driver and current BTCC Champion Colin Turkington in his BMW 330i M Sport, he was seven tenths of a second behind Cammish in the end. While third place was Motorbase Performance driver Rory Butcher in his Ford Focus ST Mk.IV and also took Independents class win, he was eleven tenths of a second behind Cammish in the end.

While, Jack Sears Trophy (for drivers yet to record an overall podium finish or won outright the Jack Sears Trophy championship) was won by MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square driver Sam Osborne in his Honda Civic Type R (FK2), he finished in seventh place and was five seconds behind Cammish in the end.


Meanwhile in the second race, Team BMW driver and current BTCC Champion Colin Turkington took the race win in his BMW 330i M Sport. Second was Motorbase Performance driver Rory Butcher in his Ford Focus ST Mk.IV and also took Independents class win, he was two seconds behind Turkington in the end. While third place was Team BMW driver Tom Oliphant in his BMW 330i M Sport, he was two and half seconds behind Turkington in the end.

While, Jack Sears Trophy was won by The Clever Baggers with BTC Racing driver Michael Crees in his Honda Civic Type R (FK8), he finished in fourteenth place and was fifteen seconds behind Turkington in the end.


Finally in the third race, Laser Tools Racing driver Ash Sutton took the race win in his Infiniti Q50 and also took Independents class win as-well. Second was Excelr8 Motorsport driver Chris Smiley in his Hyundai i30 Fastback N Performance, he was two seconds behind Sutton in the end. While third place was BTC Racing driver Josh Cook in his Honda Civic Type R (FK8), he was two and half seconds behind Sutton in the end.

While, Jack Sears Trophy was won by The Clever Baggers with BTC Racing driver Michael Crees in his Honda Civic Type R (FK8), he finished in thirteenth place and was seventeen seconds behind Sutton in the end.


Next stop Brands Hatch for Round Two of the 2020 British Touring Car Championship season in a weeks time.
