Alonso rejoined McLaren on a three-year deal in 2015, for the start of the outfit's latest partnership with power unit supplier Honda. Last three seasons of fruitless results from Honda, McLaren announced last month that it would split from Honda and align itself with Renault for 2018. Meant, Alonso will stay at McLaren for another season.
Overall, a very good decision from McLaren to keep Fernando Alonso for next season. Renault deal was the catalyst for Alonso to retain at McLaren for another seoasn, which makes McLaren line-up a very strong one going into 2018.
