Wales Rally GB is this weekend, and its been 30 years since Group B was introduced by the FIA in 1982. Basically, Group B rally cars were anything go rally cars that produces over 380 bhp at the end of the Group B era. Also the manufactures had to build 200 of these production cars to rally with.
In this video below is the Audi Quattro and Ford RS200 in its street versions.
In street form the Quattro produces 306 bhp. But, In its rally form the Audi Quattro E2 produces 550 bhp in 1986 from a 2.1 litre in-line 5 cylinder turbo.
Meanwhile, the Ford RS200 produces 250 bhp in street form. But, in Group B rally from the Ford RS200 420 bhp with a mid-engine Ford 1.8 litre in-line 4-cylinder turbo.
MG Metro 6R4 was developed by WilliamsF1 team back in the mid-1980s. The MG Metro 6R4 produces 250 bhp in street form. But, in Group B rally from the MG Metro 6R4 produces over 380 bhp with a mid-engine 3.0 litre V6.
