It was confirmed Saturday morning of the Italian Grand Prix (10/9/22) from Williams that Alexander Albon will sit out the Italian Grand Prix due to illness, with Mercedes reverse driver Nyck de Vries replacing him.
Albon took part in Friday running with Williams, but a statement prior to the start of FP3 at Monza confirmed that the Williams driver is being treated for appendicitis.
De Vries took part in FP1 on Friday with Aston Martin, and drove for Williams earlier this year during the opening practice session at the Spanish Grand Prix, will step in to replace Albon, making his Grand Prix debut alongside Nicholas Latifi for this weekends Italian Grand Prix.
De Vries, will start eighth place (orgianally qualified in thriteenth), two hundenths faster than team-mate Latifi in Q1.
All I can say get well soon Alexander and lets have a 100% Alexander back to race in Formula 1 for Singapore in three weeks time. As for Nyck de Vries, good luck.
