2019 24 Hours of Le Mans Review, Toyota and Alonso wins again; New Champions! (Updated)

As the title says above a 24 Hours of Le Mans Review of the race. Round Eight and the final Round of the 2018/19 FIA World Endurance Championship at Le Mans. And this years 24 hours of Le Mans race will be remembered for the race for Toyota and Fernando Alonso winning their second outright win at Le Mans.

This was a cat and mouse race between #7 and #8 Toyota's throughout the 24 hour race. With a few hours to go #7 Toyota was looking to win, with two hours to go #7 Toyota had a double puncture giving the #8 Toyota the advantage for the last few hours to give Toyota their second outright win at Le Mans.

The Toyota Gazoo Racing team won the race overall and the LMP1 class too of Sébastien Buemi, Kazuki Nakajima and Fernando Alonso in their Toyota TS050 Hybrid; Toyota 2.4 L Turbo V6 and managed to do 385 laps altogether in dry and warm conditions to win this years 24 Hours of Le Mans race.



While, second place was the other Toyota Gazoo Racing to complete a Toyota one-two finish, with the team of Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and José María López in their Toyota TS050 Hybrid,Toyota 2.4 L Turbo V6; they were seventeen seconds behind the leaders at the end of the race. Meanwhile, third place was SMP Racing, with the team of Mikhail Aleshin, Vitaly Petrov and Stoffel Vandoorne in their BR Engineering BR1, AER P60B 2.4L Turbo V6; they were six laps behind the leaders at the end of the race.

In LMP2 class (all cars using the Gibson 4.2 L V8 engine), Signatech Alpine Matmut team of Nicolas Lapierre, Pierre Thiriet and André Negrão in their Alpine A470 won LMP2 class. They finish in sixth place overall and they were seventeen laps behind the leaders at the end of the race.

While in GTE Pro class, was won by AF Corse team of Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado and Daniel Serra won in their Ferrari 488 GTE Evo. They finish in twentieth place overall and they were forty-three laps behind the leaders at the end of the race.

While in GTE Am class, was won by Keating Motorsports team of Ben Keating, Jeroen Bleekemolen and Felipe Fraga in their Ford GT. However they were later disqualified for exceeding the permitted fuel capacity. Meaning Team Project 1 team took GTE Am class win with the team of Jörg Bergmeister, Patrick Lindsey and Egidio Perfetti in their Porsche 911 RSR. They finish in thirty-first place overall and they were fifty-one laps behind the leaders at the end of the race.

And so this years Champions, in the Drivers Championships, Toyota Gazoo Racing drivers of Sébastien Buemi, Kazuki Nakajima and Fernando Alonso won this years World Drivers' Championship in in their Toyota TS050 Hybrid.



Porsche GT Team drivers Michael Christensen and Kévin Estre won Endurance Cup for GT Drivers title in their Porsche 911 RSR. Signatech Alpine Matmut drivers Nicolas Lapierre, Pierre Thiriet and André Negrão won the Endurance Trophy for LMP2 Drivers in their Alpine A470. Team Project 1 drivers Jörg Bergmeister, Patrick Lindsey and Egidio Perfetti took the Endurance Trophy for LMGTE Am Drivers in their Porsche 911 RSR.

World Endurance Cup for GT Manufacturers was won by Porsche.

While in this seasons Teams Championships, Toyota Gazoo Racing won the World Endurance LMP1 Championship in their Toyota TS050 Hybrid. Signatech Alpine Matmut won the Endurance Trophy for LMP2 Teams in their Alpine A470. Team Project 1 won the Endurance Trophy for LMGTE Am Teams in their Porsche 911 RSR.
