Confirmed: Nico Hülkenberg to race at Le Mans with Porsche

It was confirmed of Thursday (27/11/14) that Nico Hulkenberg will contest the 24 Hours of Le Mans with Porsche in 2015 alongside his Force India Formula 1 program.

As next years 24 Hours of Le Mans sits between the Canadian and Austrian Grands Prix, it was a right opportunity for Hülkenberg to race at the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the first time in his career.

Porsche has signed Hülkenberg for the third 919 Hybrid entry that was announced earlier this week, and they will also field Hülkenberg in the Spa-Francorchamps (between the Chinese and Spanish Grands Prix) round of the World Endurance Championship in preparation for Le Mans.

Hulkenberg will become the first active Grand Prix driver to combine F1 and Le Mans programs since Sebastien Bourdais contested the 2009 24 Hours of Le Mans with Peugeot between his Toro Rosso F1 commitments.

Nico Hülkenberg could be the first full time Formula 1 could win the 24 Hours of Le Mans since 1978 when Tyrrell F1 driver Didier Pironi won the 24 Hours of Le Mans with Renault.

End of post for now, new post soon. Bye.
