Post 700, 2014 Singapore Grand Prix Review and thoughts, Hamilton takes the lead in the standings
This is post 700 on my blog, that's my little celebration on this blog. 2014 Singapore Grand Prix review of round fourteen of the F1 season at Marina Bay Street Circuit, and thoughts on the race as well.
Good points
Bad points
A dominating race weekend from Lewis Hamilton in the Mercedes, pole position on Saturday by just 0.007 of a second from team-mate Nico Rosberg, lead most of the laps, and a fastest lap to conclude with an impressive race win on Sunday winning the race by over half a minute to give Lewis his seventh Grand Prix win of the season.
While, team-mate Nico Rosberg who started in second place on the grid in the Mercedes had a terrible Sunday altogether. Rosberg was forced to start from the pit lane after a glitch on his way to the grid meant that he was unable to pull away without assistance. Having struggled to climb up the order, ROsberg ultimately retired at the first round of pit-stops when his car failed to select a gear to give Nico his second DNF of the season.
Meanwhile, current F1 Champion Sebastian Vettel finished in second place in the Red Bull, to give Vettel his best result of the season so far.
While, team-mate Daniel Ricciardo finished in third place, in the Red Bull, to complete the podium.
And with Nico Rosberg second DNF of the season, and Lewis Hamilton winning the Singapore Grand Prix, it now gives Hamilton the lead of the F1 driver championship by 3 points ahead of team-mate Nico Rosberg. Daniel Ricciardo is now only 60 points behind Hamilton with five races to go.
Next stop Suzuka in two weeks time for the Japanese Grand Prix.

- Force India (Sergio Pérez, finished 7th; Nico Hülkenberg, finished 9th)
- Pastor Maldonado (finished 12th)
- Marcus Ericsson (finished 15th, on the lead lap, ahead of both Marussia drivers)
Bad points
- Nico Rosberg (DNF, Gearbox)
- Jenson Button (DNF, Engine)
- Valtteri Bottas (finished 11th, lost seventh place on the last lap with power steering system problems)
- Kamui Kobayashi (DNS, Power unit)

KTM will enter MotoGP in 2017
It was confirmed on Wednesday (17/9/14) that KTM plans to compete in MotoGP from 2017 onwards.
KTM had previously dabbled in the premier class when it supplied V4 engines to Team Roberts for a season in 2005, with three times British Superbike Champion Shane Byrne as their rider.
Since then, it has remained in the 125cc, 250cc championships in the past, and the current Moto3 championship, winning the 125cc manufactures title in 2005, Moto3 manufactures title in 2012 and 2013 and winning riders' championships for both Sandro Cortese in 2012 and for Maverick Viñales in 2013.
KTM did announced that, unlike the more traditional route of other manufacturers in MotoGP, it will not be entering a factory team, but will instead build a customer bike akin to that in Moto3 Championship.
Its move to MotoGP will come a year after the new technical regulations take effect and KTM head of motorsport Pit Beirer revealed that the bike would be powered by a V4 engine, will be in a tubular frame as their Moto3 bikes, and will be built and made in Austria with KTM, and with testing due to begin towards the end of next year.
KTM will join Honda, Yamaha, Ducati, Suzuki and the recently announced Aprilia as an official MotoGP manufacturer in 2017.
So who's next coming into MotoGP as a manufacture? Kawasaki, BMW or Mahindra perhaps?

It's Official: Jack Miller moves to MotoGP with LCR Honda next season
It was confirmed on Wednesday (17/9/14), Moto3 Championship leader Jack Miller will jump into MotoGP in 2015 after signing a three-year contract with Honda.
Miller will be joining Cal Crutchlow at LCR Honda next season and becomes the first rider to move from the lowest grand prix class to MotoGP since Leon Haslam in 2001. And it will be the first time the LCR Honda squad will run two riders in the premier class.
Also, Miller will ride an Open spec Honda RCV1000R, while Cal Crutchlow will ride the Factory spec Honda RC213V at LCR next season.
This deal has been heavily rumoured for a few months now, and personally I think he should have waited for another season getting into MotoGP and do a season in Moto2, it could be an interesting 2015 season ahead for Jack Miller.

Formula E - Beijing ePrix - Round 1 Recap
Review of Round One of the 2014-15 Formula E season held at the Beijing Olympic Green Circuit in Beijing, China. It was the first Championship race of the single-seater, electrically-powered racing car series' inaugural season. The race was won by Audi Sport ABT driver Lucas di Grassi. Second was Andretti Autosport driver Franck Montagny, he was three seconds behind di Grassi in the end.
Meanwhile, third was Virgin Racing driver Sam Bird, after Audi Sport ABT driver Daniel Abt was third on track, but was penalised for exceeding "the maximum permitted electrical power during the race," and was relegated to tenth place, promoting Bird to the final place on the podium. Bird was six and a half seconds behind di Grassi in the end.
But the main action was during the last lap of the race, with Nico Prost leading the race and Nick Heidfeld closed the gap going into the last corner, Heidfied attempted an overtaking manoeuvre on Prost. Prost attempted to block the move, but hit Heidfeld, sending the German driver into a spin. Heidfeld's car then hit the curb sideways, and flipped into the barrier. The collision forced both drivers to retire from the race, and Di Grassi went through to claim victory. Overall, give credit to race car for its touch safety cell. Meanwhile, the track needs more improvement if the series goes back there next season. If this was a Formula 1 race, the race track would've be heavily criticize on safety.
Highlights of the race bellow, enjoy.
Next stop, Round Two of the 2014-15 Formula E season in Putrajaya, Malaysia for the Putrajaya ePrix in eleven weeks time.

Ferrari President Luca Di Montezemolo to quit after 23 years
Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo has confirmed this morning (10/09/14) that he is stepping down from his position after almost 23 years, despite stating during the Italian Grand Prix weekend that he had no intention to leave.
Di Montezemolo's future has been the subject of much speculation in recent weeks, with rumours linking him to Italian airline Alitalia.
But following another disappointing race at the teams home race at the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, Sergio Marchionne, head of the Fiat group which owns Ferrari, described the comments as "rubbish" and made clear that "nobody is indispensable".
Di Montezemolo, who is to step aside on October 13, with Marchionne replacing him as Chairman, said the impending floatation of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles on the New York Stock Exchange prompted his departure.
To me this an end of an era of one of the most charismatic person in Formula 1 and in the car industry. Joined Fiat in 1973 was moved to Ferrari, where he became Enzo Ferrari's assistant and, in 1974, manager of the F1 team. During his involvement with the team, Ferrari won the Formula 1 Constructors Championship in 1975, 1976, and 1977, and Drivers' Titles with Niki Lauda in 1975 and 1977.
In 1991 after thirteen seasons away, appointed president of Ferrari, which had been struggling since Enzo Ferrari's death. Montezemolo made it his personal goal to win the Formula One World Constructors' Championship once again after many years of not winning titles.
And making the Ferrari road car business from heavy debts into solid profit.
Which concluded with eight Constructor Champiosnhips and six Drivers' Titles in his 23 years tenure, with Michael Schumacher and Kimi Raikkionen taking those Drivers' Titles.
And bringing blockbuster race winning drivers to the team, which includes Kimi Raikkionen, Fernando Alonso and bringing in Michael Schumacher in 1996 to bring them five Drivers' Titles and six Constructors Titles in his tenure at the team.
Not winning the Drivers' and the Constructors' Titles for the last six seasons may have cost him job at Ferrari. Overall, he did what he needed to achieve and that is putting Ferrari back into the winning circle in those two periods of Ferrari history.
Does this effect Fernando Alonso decision to stay at Ferrari for years to come? who knows.
It's an end of an era of one of the most charismatic person in Formula 1 and at Ferrari.

2014 Italian Grand Prix Review and thoughts
2014 Italian Grand Prix review of round thirteen of the F1 season at Monza, and thoughts on the race.
Good points
Bad points
The race itself was a very good race to watch, with pole sitter Lewis Hamilton lost three places after a poor start due to a loss of power, allowing team-mate and rival Nico Rosberg into the lead, and Kevin Magnussen and Felipe Massa into second and third respectively. With Hamilton passing Magnussen and Massa within laps of each other he made sure to catch up to his team-mate to the pit-stops. Then on lap 29, Rosberg missed the first chicane allowing Hamilton to take the lead to conclude a fastest lap and an impressive win to give Lewis his sixth Grand Prix win of the season.
While, team-mate Nico Rosberg finished in second place in the Mercedes to give the team its seventh one-two finish of the season.
Meanwhile, Felipe Massa finished in third place, in his Williams, to give his first podium finish of the season.
Nico Rosberg still leads the drivers' championship from team-mate Lewis Hamilton, but the gap is now reduce from 29 points to 22 points in the standings with six races to go. While, Daniel Ricciardo is third in the standings is now 64 points from Spa to now 72 points behind Rosberg after his fifth place finish at Monza.
Next stop Marina Bay Street Circuit in two weeks time for the Singapore Grand Prix.

Confirmed: Haas F1 Team using Ferrari turbo engines from 2016 and onwards
It was announced on Wednesday (3/9/14) that Haas F1 Team will use Ferrari V6 Turbo engines and gearbox's when they join the Formula 1 grid from 2016.
This has been heavily rumoured that Haas F1 Team will use the Ferrari power-units since the Canadian Grand Prix. The deal was confirmed by Ferrari chief Marco Mattiacci on the eve of the team's home race in Italy this weekend.
In my opinion, this is no major surprise that the news has happen on Wednesday. As this has been rumoured since the news that the Haas F1 Team will be joining F1 grid from the 2016 onwards. And no word yet if the deal is being extended beyond the engine supply deal such as loaning out drivers and technicians to the new Haas Team.
Also, as-well as that, it was announced on Tuesday (2/9/14), that the team will rename from Haas Formula to the Haas F1 Team.
