Hamilton's current Mercedes deal was set to expire at the end of the season and he had hinted that he was in no hurry to sort his future. But, Mercedes confirmed on Saturday that Hamilton has signed a new contract covering the next two seasons.
Hamilton currently holds second place in the Drivers' standings, eighteen points behind Max Verstappen with fifteen races to go.
No word who would be Hamilton team-mate is next season, it is strongly rumoured it could be Williams driver George Russell.
Overall, a very good decision from Mercedes to keep Lewis Hamilton for next two seasons.
Overall, the right choice for Mercedes going into 2022.
