Its Official: Frédéric Vasseur joins Sauber F1 Team as new Team Principal

It was confirmed on Wednesday (12/7/17), that former Renault chief Frédéric Vasseur was named as Sauber's new Team Principal, Vasseur will take up his new position at the team after this weekend's British Grand Prix.

Vasseur, who operates the ART team, helped guide the career of several current Formula 1 drivers, with Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg, Nico Hülkenberg, and Valtteri Bottas to name a few that won GP2 and GP3 titles at ART in the last decade; spent 2016 as Team Principal, during Renault's first year back in Formula 1 as a works team.

However, Vasseur departed the team in January, citing differences in the future direction of the team.

Sauber, meanwhile, was left without a Team Principal in the wake of Monisha Kaltenborn's exit, prior to the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

Sauber has now confirmed Vasseur as Kaltenborn's successor and he will take up his new role after this weekend's British Grand Prix.

No surprise with the news, it has been rumoured for weeks now, that Vasseur will replace Monisha Kaltenborn at Sauber as Team Prinicipal.
