Mercedes took up an option last October to enter Formula E for 2018/19 and confirmed they will compete in the championship, deferring its debut by a year.
Mercedes' entry into Formula E will also bring down the curtain on its participation in the DTM, which it will leave at the end of 2018.
Overall, its the right time for Mercedes to jump into Formula E with their electric technology. Leaving the DTM is a sad news to here. But, will it be enough for Mercedes to stay in Formula 1, there has been rumours since Baku they may quit Formula 1 at the end of the 2018 F1 season.
With the recent news of Mercedes quitting the DTM at the end of next season and focusing on Formula E in 2019 it may help Mercedes to say in Formula 1 a few more seasons to say the least.
