2014 Australian MotoGP Review

Review of round sixteen of the 2014 MotoGP season at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circult, Phillip Island, south-southeast of Melbourne, for the Australian GP.

In the MotoGP race (V-twin, V4, or Inline-four 1000cc four stroke class), that was won by Movistar Yamaha MotoGP rider Valentino Rossi on his works Yamaha YZR-M1. Second place was the other Movistar Yamaha MotoGP rider Jorge Lorenzo on his works Yamaha YZR-M1, he was eleven seconds behind Rossi at the end. While, third was Monster Yamaha Tech 3 rider Bradley Smith on Yamaha YZR-M1, he was twelve seconds behind Rossi at the end.

In Open class (Full control ECU system, hardware and software), Avintia Racing rider Héctor Barberá won Open class and finish fifth place overall on his open spec Ducati Desmosedici GP14, he was 30 seconds behind Rossi at the end.

In the Moto2 race (Inline-four 600 cc four-stroke class), that race was won by Paginas Amarillas HP 40 rider and current Moto3 Champion Maverick Viñales on the Kalex. Second was Interwetten Paddock Moto2 rider Thomas Lüthi on the Suter, he was one second behind Viñales at the end of the race. While, third was Marc VDS Racing Team rider Esteve Rabat on the Kalex, he was one and half a second behind Viñales at the end of the race.

While in the Moto3 race (single-cylinder 250 cc four-stroke class), that race was won by Red Bull KTM Ajo rider Jack Miller on the KTM. Second was Estrella Galicia rider Álex Márquez on the Honda, he was just over 0.029! of a second behind Miller at the end of the race. While, third was the other Estrella Galicia rider Álex Rins on the Honda, he was just over 0.032! of a second behind Miller at the end of the race.
