Kimi Raikkonen out for the rest of the season with back injury

Kimi Raikkonen will not race in the final two Grand Prix's of the 2013 Formula 1 season, after electing to undergo back surgery next week.

The former world champion had been at the centre of a pay dispute with his Lotus bosses in Abu Dhabi last weekend. However, it has been sorted so he could compete in the final two Grand Prix's of the 2013 Formula 1 season,

However, in a new twist, the back issues that nearly forced Raikkonen out of the Singapore Grand Prix earlier in the seson flared up enough for him to choose to take early surgery, which will not recovered in time for the last two Grand Prix's of the season.

No word yet on who will replace Raikkonen for the final two races. It's more than likely Lotus will promote reserve driver and Former GP2 Champion Davide Valsecchi to the race seat or other Lotus test driver Jérôme d'Ambrosio, who did replace the other Lotus driver Romain Grosjean at last seasons Italian Grand Prix, while Grosjean took a one race ban. In my opinion I would go for Davide Valsecchi rather than Jérôme d'Ambrosio to replace Kimi Raikkonen for the last two races of the season.

End of blog for now, new post soon, bye.
