Review of the twelfth round of the 2022 MotoGP season at Silverstone, on the outskirts of Northampton, UK.
In the MotoGP race (V-twin, V4, or Inline-four 1000cc four stroke class), that was won by Ducati Lenovo Team rider Francesco Bagnaia on his works Ducati Desmosedici GP22.
Second was Aprilia Racing rider Maverick Viñales on his works Aprilia RS-GP, he was four tenths of a second behind Bagnaia at the end. While, third was Ducati Lenovo Team rider Jack Miller on his works Ducati Desmosedici GP22, he was six tenths of a second behind Bagnaia at the end.
In the Moto2 race (Inline-three 765cc four-stroke class), that race was won by Red Bull KTM Ajo rider Augusto Fernández on the Kalax. Second was Speed Up Racing rider Alonso López on the Boscoscuro, he was seven hundredths of a second behind Fernández at the end. While, third was GasGas Aspar Team rider Jake Dixon on the Kalax, he was seven tenths of a second behind Fernández at the end.
While in the Moto3 race (single-cylinder 250 cc four-stroke class), that race was won by Leopard Racing rider Dennis Foggia on the Honda. Second was Red Bull KTM Ajo rider Jaume Masià on the KTM, he was two tenths of a second behind Foggia at the end of the race. While, third was Red Bull KTM Tech3 rider Deniz Öncü on the KTM, he was three tenths of a second behind Foggia at the end of the race.
It was confirmed on Thursday (4/8/22) WithU Yamaha RNF MotoGP Team rider Andrea Dovizioso has announced he will retire after the San Marino MotoGP round in two races time. He's set to be replaced by Cal Crutchlow for the remaining six rounds of the season.
The RNF Yamaha rider has struggled to perform his Yamaha M1 this season opted to retire early at his final home round.
Dovizioso has won 15 wins and 62 podiums in the premier class, but has missed out on a MotoGP title, finishing runner-up on three occasions, to Honda's Marc Marquez in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
Dovizioso currently sits twenty-second in the MotoGP standings with best finish of eleventh place finish at Portimão back in late April.
