2014 Hungarian Grand Prix Review, and thoughts on the race

Round eleven of the F1 season, a quick review of the Hungarian Grand Prix, and thoughts on the race itself.

Good points
  • Daniel Ricciardo (race win)
  • Ferrari (Fernando Alonso, finished 2nd; Kimi Räikkönen, finished 6th)
  • Lewis Hamilton (finished 3rd, despite starting from the pit-lane, after a oil-leak fire in qualifying)
  • Felipe Massa (finished 5th)
  • Jean-Éric Vergne (finished 9th)
  • Adrian Sutil (finished 11th)
  • Jules Bianchi (finished 15th, ahead of Marussia team-mate Max Chilton)

Bad points
  • Romain Grosjean, DNF, Accident)
  • Force India (Sergio Pérez, DNF, Accident; Adrian Sutil, DNF, Accident, first DNF of the season)
  • Caterham (Marcus Ericsson, DNF, Accident; Kamui Kobayashi, DNF, Fuel system)
  • Esteban Gutiérrez (DNF, Power unit)

Overall, I thought it was a very good race to watch. It was going to be another race win for current F1 championship leader Nico Rosberg. Until the weather appears before the race with a quick shower to spice things up. And until the safety car appear on lap seven for Marcus Ericsson accident. Daniel Ricciardo then took the lead after safety car went in, then Fernando Alonso took the lead after Ricciardo took a pit-stop for tyres. Then, Daniel Ricciardo retook the lead after Alonso took a pit-stop for tyres. Then once again Fernando Alosnso retook the lead after Daniel Ricciardo took another pit-stop for tyres. But with three laps to go, Daniel Ricciardo retook the lead with fresh tyres and some impressive overtaking in the last 15 laps to win his second Grand Prix of his career.

While, Fernando Alonso finished in second in the Ferrari, his first podium since Shanghai.

Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton in the Mercedes finish on the final step of the podium in third place just ahead of team-mate Nico rosberg. Despite, starting from the pit-lane, after a oil-leak fire in qualifying and spinning off on the first lap as-well.

Now with eight races to go, Nico Rosberg leads from team-mate Lewis Hamilton with 11 points behind Rosberg. While, Hungarian Grand Prix race winner Daniel Ricciardo is third in the standings with 71 points behind Rosberg.

Next stop Spa-Francorchamps for the Belgian Grand Prix in four weeks time.
