Shoya Tomizawa 1990-2010

Shoya Tomizawa was competing in todays eleventh round of the Moto2 World Championship, the San Marino Grand Prix at Misano On lap 12, Tomizawa fell in Turn 10, a fast right-hand corner, when he was forced wide and lost grip in his rear tyre. He was then hit by the motorbikes of Scott Redding and Alex de Angelis in which he suffered cranial, thoracic and abdominal trauma. He was initially taken to hospital in Riccione. Were he died from these injuries at half past two local time, aged 19. His death was announced at the end of the MotoGP race. The podium flags were lowered to half-mast, and the podium was celebrated without champagne. Tomizawa was the first MotoGP fatality since the late Daijiro Kato was killed at Suzuka in 2003 riding the Motogp class.
Condolences goes to Shoyas family and friends, His first race this season at Qatar this year was impressed me this season so much. Had the possibly of a MotoGp rider in the making. Still a sad day for motor racing. Remember Shoya for the good times such as his first two rounds this season, finishing 1st (Qatar) and 2nd (Jerez) leading the Moto2 championship at this period.

After the Motogp were Dani Pedrosa won the race head of Jorge Lorenzo, while Valentino Rossi finished 3rd in his home GP. Were they all emotional about Shoya Death, even seen Dani in tears. Knew that it wasn't about racing today, but about Shoyas Death. But today is about Motorsport can be a dangerous place, as it says on the ticket. Today we lost a person who was a polite, respectful, happy and funny - which again would have carried him in great stead through his career.

Rest in Peace Tomizawa-san, you will be much missed.

Jonathan
