It was confirmed on Monday (28/6/2021), Maverick Viñales will leave the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP team at the end of the 2021 MotoGP season, despite having signed a two-year contract when he penned a deal last year.
Despite winning the first race of the year at Qatar, currently sits sixth in the standings.
Rumours suggested Viñales felt unhappy with the level of attention he got from Yamaha. Rumours broke out over the weekend that Viñales had asked for an early release of his contract-which runs out at the end of 2022 MotoGP season, new rumours suggests that Viñales will switch over to Aprilia for next season.
No word on who will replace Viñales at Yamaha at next season.
