It was confirmed before the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix (25/11/18) that Pirelli will retain as Formula 1's tyre supplier under the latest contract till 2023.
Pirelli, has been Formula 1's sole tyre supplier since returning in 2011 replacing Bridgestone, but was up against DTM and European Formula 3 Championship supplier Hankook for a post-2019 deal.
The new arrangement was complicated by F1’s rules, when the series will switch to using 18-inch wheels and tyre blankets will be banned in 2021.
Overall, a good decision from the FIA to keep Pirelli for next five seasons. Interesting times ahead what Pirelli will produce in 2021.
