2018 Austria MotoGP Review, Rider News

Review of round eleven of the 2018 MotoGP season at the Red Bull Ring, on the outskirts of Spielberg, Styria, Austira.

In the MotoGP race (V-twin, V4, or Inline-four 1000cc four stroke class), that was won by Ducati Team rider Jorge Lorenzo on his works Ducati Desmosedici GP18.



Second was Repsol Honda Team rider and current MotoGP champion Marc Marquez on his works Honda RC213V, he was a tenth of a second Jorge Lorenzo at the end.



While, third was Ducati Team rider Andrea Dovizioso on his works Ducati Desmosedici GP18, he was seventeen tenths of a second behind Lorenzo at the end of the race.



In the Moto2 race (Inline-four 600 cc four-stroke class), that race was won by Sky Racing Team VR46 rider Francesco Bagnaia on the Kalex.



Second was Red Bull KTM Ajo rider Miguel Oliveira on the KTM, he was a three tenths of a second behind Bagnaia at the end of the race. While, third was Sky Racing Team VR46 rider Luca Marini on the Kalex, he was six seconds behind Bagnaia at the end of the race.

While in the Moto3 race (single-cylinder 250 cc four-stroke class), that race was won by Redox PrüstelGP rider Marco Bezzecchi on the KTM. Second was Leopard Racing rider Enea Bastianini on the Honda, he was four tenths of a second behind Bezzecchi at the end of the race. While, third was Del Conca Gresini Racing Moto3 rider Jorge Martín on the Honda, he was five tenths of a second seconds behind Bezzecchi at the end of the race.

Finally, it was confirmed on Sunday (12/8/18), EG 0,0 Marc VDS rider Thomas Lüthi will return to Moto2 next season with the Dynavolt Intact GP team.



Lüthi currently sits twenty-fourth in the championship, with a best finish of three sixteenth place finishes at Doha, Le Mans and Brno.

Finally, it was confirmed on Monday (13/8/18) EG 0,0 Marc VDS rider Franco Morbidelli and Speed Up Moto 2 rider Fabio Quartararo have signed for the SIC Racing team for the 2019 MotoGP next season.





Morbidelli currently sits seventeenth in the MotoGP Standings, with a best finish of ninth place at Jerez in May. While Quartararo currently sits ninth in the Moto2 Standings, with a best finish of a race win at Barcelona in June.
