Acura's own LMP2 (well sort of) car, ARX-05

Despite this car won't be allowed to race the World Endurance Championship for LMP2 rules meaning no Le Mans outing. The Acura ARX-05 is enable to race in next seasons Prototype class in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship meaning it will race in next seasons 24 hours of Daytona.

The 2018 ARX-05, which will make its debut at the Rolex 24 At Daytona in January with Team Penske, is the first prototype race car from Acura since 2009 with the Acura ARX-02a.

Team Penske will run a pair of Acura's, and the first time for Team Penske returing to Sport Car Racing since 2008 when they run a pair of LMP2 Porsche RS Spyders'.

The ARX-05 will use the Acura 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 engine that comes from the Hponda NSX that produces approximately 600 horsepower, meaning the ARX-05 won't be allowed to race in the World Endurance Championship next year due to next year rules in LMP2 have to use Gibson Technology 4.0 V8 engine. ARX-05 will have Oreca to develop their chassis for next year meaning this car could be competitive at the start.

A new challenge ahead for Acura in 2018.
