2016 World RX Round 1 Recap - World RX of Portugal

Review of Round One of the 2016 World Rallycross Championship season was the World RX of Portugal, at Pista Automóvel de Montalegre, Montalegre, Northern Portugal.

In the four Heats, those were won by Johan Kristoffersson, Mattias Ekström (winning twice), and current World Rallycross Champion Petter Solberg.



In the first semi-final that was won by Volkswagen RX Sweden driver Johan Kristoffersson in his Volkswagen Polo Mk5. Second was Team Peugeot-Hansen driver Sébastien Loeb in his Peugeot 208, he was half a second behind Kristoffersson in the end. While, third was Larsson Jernberg Motorsport driver Robin Larsson in his Audi A1, he was thirteen tenths of a second behind Kristoffersson in the end.

In the second semi-final that was won by Petter Solberg World RX Team driver and current World Rallycross Champion Petter Solberg in his Citroën DS3. Second was EKS RX driver Toomas Heikkinen in his Audi S1, he was two and half seconds behind Solberg in the end. While, third was Hoonigan Racing Division driver Andreas Bakkerud in his Ford Focus Mk3 RS, he was five seconds behind Solberg in the end.



In the final race, Petter Solberg World RX Team driver and current World Rallycross Champion Petter Solberg took the race win in his Citroën DS3. Second was Larsson Jernberg Motorsport driver Robin Larsson in his Audi A1, he was eight tenths of a second behind Solberg in the end. While, third was EKS RX driver Toomas Heikkinen in his Audi S1, he was two and half seconds behind Solberg in the end.
