Guy Ligier 1930-2015

Guy Ligier, the eponymous founder of the long-serving Equipe Ligier F1 team, has passed away at the age of 85 it was confirmed on Sunday evening (23/8/15).



Ligier competed in selected Grands Prix in the late 1960s with privately entered Cooper-Maserati and Brabham-Repco machinery scoring just one point in his Grnad Prix career. Before turning his attention to team ownership, with his own squad joining the sport in 1976.

Ligier claimed several victories with Jacques Laffite between 1977 and 1981 before results faded, with Ligier selling the team in 1992.



The Ligier name lives on in the production of micro-light cars, while it has also returned to sportscar competition with its successful JS P2 LMP2 racer.
