Beemer bells, Beemer bells, Beemer all the way and a Happy Christmas too

You know when its Christmas when BMW does an internet video of an acapella group from Zurich signing Jingle Bells, while inside a BMW M135i, while driven around the L’Anneau du Rhin track in eastern France, while driven by former DTM champion and current BMW DTM driver Martin Tomcyzk. Which, BMW "dubbed The Fastest Christmas Song in the World". What possibly go wrong? apart from haky voices, ashen faces and screams. One terrified girl simply stopped singing in a back of a BMW M135i.

The Youtube video below, enjoy the ride.

BMW version of a good Christmas.

So last post for 2012. That means Happy Christmas/Holidays guys and see you in 2013. Bye.

Peugeot 208 R5 Rally Car

Despite Peugeot have pulled out endurance racing back in early in 2012. But, Peugeot does have a rally history with great examples of cars with victories under them like the Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 (1985 and 1986 WRC Manufacture Champions), Peugeot 206 WRC (2000, 2001 and 2002 WRC Manufacture Champions), Peugeot 307 WRC (three times WRC rally wins), Peugeot 207 Super 2000 (2007, 2008 and 2009 IRC Manufacture Champions) and so forth.

Now Peugeot have brought out the New Peugeot 208 R5 Rally Car for Group R in WRC for 2013. Basically Group R will replace Group A, Group N and later on in time S2000 class. You will basically see these Group R cars in the new WRC2 class for 2013 and onwards.

The 2013 Peugeot 208 Type R5 Rally Car was launch early in the year at the Paris Motor Show. The 208 R5 has a 1.6 litre 4-cylinders turbo engine that produces around 260 bhp and top speed around the 155 mph mark.

Youtube video of the Peugeot 208 Type R5 at the annual Monza Rally Show from last November.

Lets hope this Peugeot has the winning car like its predecessors before.

So what F1 races will be live on the Beeb next season?

Today, BBC has revealed its coverage plans for all F1 races in 2013. Ten races will be shown live on BBC One, includes these races:

  • 14 April: China
  • 12 May: Spain
  • 9 June: Canada
  • 30 June: Britain
  • 21 July: TBA
  • 2 September: Belgium
  • 8 September: Italy
  • 13 October: Japan
  • 27 October: India
  • 25 November: Brazil

While the other ten races, there will be extended highlights programmes on BBC One, of either 90-minute or two-hour duration depending on race location.

My only concern is that no Monaco Grand Prix live on the BBC, I thought it was contracted to be on Beeb when the deal with Sky happened last year, the same as the British Grand Prix and the final race of the season have to be on the BBC. But, with 21st July date for whatever grand prix it could be (was the race in New Jersey before that was delayed to 2014), I don't think that race will happen to be honest and it will be a 19 Grand Prixs' for 2013, so why not put the Monaco Grand Prix back on the Beeb as it replacement. But apart form that, all and all, good choices from the BBC for next season.

Meanwhile, Suzi Perry has been revealed as the new presenter of the BBC's Formula 1 programme, replacing Jake Humphrey who is moving to BT in 2013. The former Gadget Show host fronted the BBC's World Superbikes and MotoGP coverage for a total of ten seasons back in 2000-2009. In my opinion a good choice from the Beeb for picking Suzi Perry.

End of post for how, new post soon, bye.

M-Sport to help develop Bentley's new Continental GT3 race car

Early in the year, Bentley unveiled the Continental GT3 car, which was based on the current Continental GT with which it plans to make its motorsport return in late 2013.

This week Bentley announced it has entered into a technical partnership with M-Sport to develop its new Continental GT3 racer. Ford's former long-term partner in the World Rally Championship has been signed up, as Bentley gets ready to enter the GT3 arena at the end of the 2013 season.

As part of the new deal, M-Sport will design and develop specialist components, together with design work and project organisation being undertaken in-house by Bentley at its factory in Crewe.

In my opionon, good news for both British brands, M-Sport something going forward after Ford withdrawal from the WRC early in the season, and Bentley too who got the deal with M-Sport to develop the Continental GT3 and could be a winning formula and a winning race car in late 2013 and 2014. Bring on 2013 for both brands.

Kobayashi gives up on F1 2013 race seat

Kamui Kobayashi has written a letter to his fans this week explaining that he will not be able to secure a competitive race seat for the 2013 Formula 1 season, leaving the popular Japanese driver to focus on a 2014 return instead, despite he has managed to raise more than six million pounds in funding.

After being dropped by Sauber for 2013, his race seat had been taken over by Nico Hülkenberg and Esteban Gutiérrez. While Kobayashi's former 2012 team-mate Sergio Pérez will be moving to McLaren for 2013.

As I said early in the year, I would have pick Kamui Kobayashi once again at Sauber for another season and have Esteban Gutiérrez as a test-driver in Friday practice one in Grand Prix weekends, similar to Jules Bianchi at Force India and Valtteri Bottas at Williams done this season in my opinion.

Overall, sad to see that Kamui Kobayashi can't find a Formula 1 drive for 2013,  personally I think his talented driver. You just got to wonder who's got the remanding drives at Force India (Bruno Senna or Adrian Sutil or Jaime Alguersuari) and Caterham (Giedo van der Garde or Heikki Kovalainen or Vitaly Petrov) for next season as he can't find a drive in Formula 1, how much they are bring to those teams.  Formula 1 going to miss you Kamui Kobayashi for 2013.

Anyway, end of post for now, new post soon, bye.

Confirmed: Max Chilton driving for Marussia for 2013

It has been confirmed that Max Chilton will be making his Formula 1 debut next season with Marussia, stepping up from GP2 Series this season, were he finished in forth place in the series with two GP2 race wins this season.

Max Chilton will bring sponsorship (sponsors such as AON) to the team next season. And he will be one of four British drivers on the grid next season, joining Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton and Paul di Resta.

In my opinion, this move was going to happen two months back. Now its been announced,  its good news for the Brits as we got four British drivers on the grid to support. And finally good luck to Max Chilton next season as it will be a big challenge next season to step up the pace of Formula 1 compare to GP2. His driving with the big boys from now on.

End of post for now, new post soon, bye.

Speaking of 2012 Champion of Race of Champions Champion, Romain Grosjean confirmed at Lotus for 2013 season

Lotus F1 team will retain Romain Grosjean for 2013, Lotus yesterday announced that Romain Grosjean will again partner Kimi Raikkonen next season. Which means, extending his contract with the Enstone-based squad after making his return to the sport this season.

In my opinion not a surprise there, If I was the Lotus team I would have kept Romain Grosjean for another season at least. The Former GP2 champion does have the speed in Formula 1, but some of his first lap incidents and which includes an one-race ban at Monza early in the season too from the first lap Belgium Grand Prix incident has overshadowed some of his achievement this season, such as his second place at the Candian Grand Prix and his two third places at the Bahrain and Hungarian Grand Prixs'.

Never-less, a good choice from Lotus to keep him as Kimi Räikkönen's team-mate next season and give the team an opportunity of winning the constructors championship next season.

Part 2 of Formula 1 2012 Season Review (Top Formula 1 drivers of 2012 and final thoughts of Formula 1 2012)

Second part of my Formula 1 2012 Season Review, this post will includes my top 10 Formula 1 drivers of 2012. And my final thoughts of Formula 1 2012.

Starting of with My Top Formula 1 drivers of 2012, this is the part who was in my top 10 this season, not in championship order, not in championship order, so his list doesn't includes the likes of Romain Grosjean, Michael Schumacher or Pastor Maldonado for example for example, its just only opinion folks. So here is my list below.

My Top Formula 1 drivers of 2012:

1. Ferando Alonso (Ferrari) - Best driver on the grid this season despite not winning the F1 drivers championship and not having the best car on the grid.
2. Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull) -  On form after Singapore, winning four races in a row to give Vettel his third world drivers title in a row.
3. Kimi Räikkonen (Lotus) -The return of the former champion back into F1, been constant throughout the season, won in Abu Dhabi, Kimi Raikkonen back in F1.
4. Lewis Hamilton (McLaren) - Still fast as ever, but still inconstant by the inconstantly of McLaren this season has cost Hamilton this seasons drivers championship, Mercedes beckons for Hamilton.
5. Mark Webber (Red Bull) - Won important races this season in Monaco and Silverstone, but the second half of the season has cost Mark Webber a shot of the drivers championship this season.
6. Jenson Button (McLaren) - Started well in Melbourne, mid-season blimp with poor luck and no luck with the Pirelli tyres has cost him a second drivers championship this season, but wins in Spa and Sao Paulo shows how much talent this driver is, team leader at McLaren for next season.
7. Felipe Massa (Ferrari) - Started poorly, then at Silverstone back on form, which includes a second place in Suzuka and possibly saved his job at Ferrari for another season.
8. Nico Rosberg (Mercedes) - Some great results this season at Shanghai and Monaco, but Mercedes inconstantly has cost Rosberg more points and big results this season, Hamilton will be his team-mate next season, needs to step up.
9. Sergio Pérez (Sauber)- Race pace is great as ever, when he uses old tyres for a one stop strategy to collect impressive points for the Sauber and could have won in Sepang and Monza if the race was longer, McLaren beckons for Perez in 2013.
10. Nico Hülkenberg (Force India) - Some great races from Hülkenberg this season, top 5s in Valencia, Spa and Sao Paulo, should have won in Sao Paulo, but overall a good season from Nico Hülkenberg.

Overall, possibly one of the best seasons I have seen in Formula 1, seven different winners in the first seven races and eight altogether this season, the races this year are great as-well, for example Sepang, Valencia, Abu Dhabi and Sao Paulo to name a few to give these races a bit of unpredictability. Also, Sebastian Vettel winning his third F1 drivers titles in a row and only two other drivers have done that achievement (Michael Schumacher and Juan Manuel Fangio name the others) another constructors championship from Red Bull. Fernando Alonso should have won the driver's title in my opionon, but never-less Sebastian Vettel is still a great champion to give another great season of Formula 1. Bring on Formula 1 2013.

End of the two part posts of this seasons F1 review. A new shorter post soon. Bye.

Part 1 of Formula 1 2012 Season Review (the teams)

Two parter Formula One season review of the 2012 season. in this post I will review each team of 2012. Which, I will say one sentence that will be positive with each team. And one sentence that will be negative for each team. So starting with Red Bull below.

Red Bull:
+ Best car on the grid with the RB8, F1 car of the season to give Red Bull the constructors championship and Sebastian Vettel the drivers championship as-well.
- Red Bull alternator problems in Valencia and Monza almost cost the team and Sebastian Vettel both championships this season

Ferrari:
+ Best driver on the grid with Fernando Alonso, with one of the ugliest Ferrari F1 car ever, which gives some brilliant drives this from Alonso at Sepang, Valencia and Hockenheim.
- The Ferrari F2012 pace this season cost Ferrari and Fernando Alonso both championships this season in a few races this season.

McLaren:
+ Some great performances this season from both Lewis Hamilton (Montreal, Hungaroring, Monza and Austin) and Jenson Button (Melbourne, Spa and Sao Paulo).
- Speed, constantly and reliability of the McLaren MP4-27 cost McLaren the constructors championship and Lewis Hamilton the drivers championship this season.

Lotus:
+ The first time in 25 years by name that Lotus winning a race in Formula 1 at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix with Kimi Raikkonen to give Lotus forth place in the constructors championship.
- Romain Grosjean crashes in races mid-season cost Lotus possibly a top three place in the constructors championship this season.

Mercedes:
+ Mercedes first win as a constructor since Juan Manuel Fangio won the 1955 Italian Grand Prix with Nico Rosberg at this seasons Chinese Grand Prix.
- Apart from Nico Rosbergs race win in China, a poor season from Mercedes, fifth place in the constructors championship this season, needs to improve next season with Lewis Hamilton.

Sauber:
+ Some impressive races from both Kamui Kobayashi and Sergio Pérez this season that could gives Sauber sixth place in the constructors championship.
- After he was signed up to McLaren in 2013 next season, Sergio Pérez hasn't scored points since Suzuka, that costs Sauber a possibility of fifth place in the constructors championship.

Force India:
+ Both Paul di Resta and Nico Hülkenberg are showing some great race performances this season showed why they are in Formula 1.
- VJM05 lacked all-round pace to give great results for the team this season to give them a possibility of sixth place in the constructors championship for Force India.

Williams:
+ A better car and year from last season, which gives Pastor Maldonado a famous race win at Barcelona for Williams Renault.
- Pastor Maldonado has cost Williams too many points this season that the team had a possibility of having a chance of a top five finish in the constructors championship this season, only crum of comfort was the constantly of Bruno Senna scoring points this season.

Scuderia Toro Rosso:
+ Both Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Éric Vergne are showing why they are in Formula 1 with some decent performances and why they are in Formula 1 next season
- STR7 is showing why both drivers isn't competitive this season with only 22 points this season.

Caterham:
+ Some impressive race performances from both Heikki Kovalainen (Monaco and Valencia) and Vitaly Petrov (Sepang, Valencia and Sao Paulo) gives Caterham tenth place in the constructors championship.
- Caterham have improved their performance to catch up with the midfield teams this season, but not close enough to catch up with the midfield teams above.

Marussia:
+ Some impressive race performances in Singapore (Timo Glock 12th place) and Sao Paulo (Charles Pic 12th place) to give Marussia some confidence for 2013.
- Despite Marussia have got a wind-tunnel now to develop their car this season, but they are not catching up the likes of the midfield teams yet, or not even the likes of Caterham race in - race out, but there will be improvements for the team for 2013.

HRT:
+ Despite his only 41, but Pedro de la Rosa is still showing how pace-full his still got for HRT this season.
- Poor management has cost HRT a place in Formula 1 for 2013 and possibly forever in Formula 1.

In part 2 of Formula 1 2012 Season Review my top 10 Formula 1 drivers of 2012. And my final thoughts of Formula 1 2012.

But for now, end of post for now. A new post soon. Bye.

Top six Colin Chapman Team Lotus F1 cars

It's been 30 years this weekend that Colin Chapman who was the founder of Lotus Cars and Team Lotus has passed away from a heart attack, despite he was only 54 years old. For this post, similar to the Adrian Newey post a few weeks back, a top six F1 cars designed by Colin Chapman for Team Lotus. This will be interesting post as-well, Chapman only done 25 years in Formula 1 until his death, similar to Newey who have also done 25 years in designing F1 cars, it will be an interesting comparing both posts, starting with:

Number 6: 1982 Lotus 91
Story: The last Formula 1 car that was designed under Colin Chapman. The Lotus 91 was the last Colin Chapman car that won in Formula 1 and the last time the famous Cosworth DFV 3 litre V8 won with Team Lotus as-well, at the 1982 Austrian Grand Prix in the hands of Elio de Angelis, 0.050 seconds ahead of Williams driver Keke Rosberg at the end. But, the first Lotus chassis ever to use all carbon fibre chassis F1 car.

Number 5: 1961 Lotus 21
Story: Team Lotus first F1 win in Formula 1 and Colin Chapman's first F1 win at the 1961 United States Grand Prix in hands of Innes Ireland. The Lotus 21 was powered by a 1.5 litre 4-cylinder Coventry Climax FPF engine.

NOTE: Lotus 18 did won the 1960 and 1961 Monaco Grand Prix, 1960 United States Grand Prix and 1961 Geramn Grand Prix in the hands of Stirling Moss. But for Rob Walker Racing Team and not Team Lotus. So that is why the Lotus 18 will not be included in this list.

Number 4: 1978 Lotus 79
Story:  A surprise for the Lotus 79 to be number 1 a good reason why was the other Team Lotus F1 cars who were number 3-1 had more dominants and more achievements compared to the Lotus 79. Lotus was the first F1 car to take full advantage of ground effects aerodynamics, pioneered in its immediate predecessor, the Lotus 78 which started the ground effect movement. Had the famous Cosworth DFV 3 litre V8 underneath the Lotus 79. To give Mario Andretti the 1978 F1 drivers championship and the F1 constructors championship for Team Lotus, Colin Chapman's and Team Lotus's last divers and constructors championships.

Number 3: 1962 Lotus 25
Story:
The Lotus 25 was a revolutionary design created by Colin Chapman, the first fully stressed monocoque chassis to appear in F1. The Lotus 25 was powered by a 1.5 litre 4-cylinder Coventry Climax FPF engine. The Lotus 25 took Jim Clark to his 1963 Formula 1 world drivers championships and Team Lotus to the 1963 F1 constructors championships as-well. Colin Chapman's and Team Lotus's first drivers and constructors championship.

Number 2: 1967 Lotus 49
Story:The Lotus 49 was the first F1 car to be powered by the now-famous Cosworth DFV 3 litre V8 engine after Chapman convinced Ford to build an F1 powerplant with the help from Cosworth. The Lotus 49 was designed around the Cosworth DFV engine and was the first successful Formula One car to feature the engine as a structural member of the chassis. Jim Clark won on the car's debut in 1967, and it would also provide him with the last win of his career in 1968. Graham Hill went on to win the 1968 F1 drivers title and the constructors championship as-well for Team Lotus that year. The Lotus 49 continued winning races until 1970.

Number 1: 1970 Lotus 72
Story:
Lotus 72 will be possibly the best Lotus car that have been F1. The Lotus 72 was yet another innovative design by Colin Chapman featuring inboard brakes, side mounted radiators in sidepods, as opposed to the nose mounted radiators which had been commonplace since the 1950s and an overhead air intake. The Lotus 72 has the famous Cosworth DFV 3 litre V8 underneath the Lotus 79. Which, gives Jochen Rindt the 1970 F1 drivers title, Emerson Fittipaldi the 1972 F1 drivers title and Team Lotus the 1970, 1972 and 1973 F1 constructors titles. The Lotus 72 continue winning races until 1974 and kept on racing till 1975. That is why this is the best Colin Chapman F1 Team Lotus car ever designed.

Colin Chapman legacy still continues at Lotus today, 30 years after his death.

The fourth event has still yet to be confirmed, although Rally Argentina is thought likely.

Also, been confirmed that Sebastien Loeb will be contesting next year's GT Sprint Series in a McLaren MP4-12C GT3 which will be run by his own Sebastien Loeb Racing team. As-well as that, he will also preparing for Citroen's proposed entry to the World Touring Car Championship in 2014 with the C4.

But, there are rumours that Petter Solberg could develop and drive with Hyundai, with the new i20 WRC rally car competing in selected events in 2013, ahead of a full championship campaign in 2014.

Alex Zanardi back in a racing car

First time since his double Paralympics Gold at London 2012 games, Alex Zanardi is driving the BMW M3 DTM at the Nurburgring. On the 3.629km spec Nurburgring track (not full grand prix track, but the indy circuit if you can call it), Zanardi done 32 laps in his hand control-spec M3. He tested the M3 few weeks back as this youtube video shows Zanardi driving around the Nurburgring.

There are rumours that Alex Zanardi may drive the M3 DTM spec in next seasons DTM champion. If this does happen, this will be the first time we will see him in a racing series since 2009 in the World Touring Car Championship, he won races for BMW Italy-Spain in that between 2004 and 2009, so you got a race winner there too.

In my opionon, this could be good for the DTM series and good for motorsport in general, if the rumours does happen. If not, Alex Zanardi had a taste of driving a BMW M3 DTM car for one day.

End of blog for now, new post soon, bye.

Kimi Räikkonen getting lost with Apple Maps

Despite he finished a lap down in 10th place at the Brazilian Grand Prix last weekend. Kimi Räikkonen is the star of a hilarious spoof video on YouTube (video below) which takes the mickey out of his bizarre excursion during the Brazilian Grand Prix. The 2007 F1 World Champion sped along a service road after sliding off the Interlagos track. He was convinced it would lead him back to the circuit, only to find a gate he thought would be open was closed.

What the creator of this video did was add some signs above onto the on-board footage of Kimi’s wacky little trip which also added with the infamous “l know what I’m doing” radio messages he sent to his engineer during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix from four weeks ago to make this video below shows.

Personally, if Apple does ads with maps, their is nothing better than this one above, and funny too.

Game Over for HRT in F1

HRT Formula 1 team looks set to close down after failing to find a buyer before the FIA's deadline for 2013 entries on Friday (30/11/12). The team was absent from the 22-car entry list published by the FIA on Saturday (1/12/12). It will be the first F1 team to close down since Super Aguri's in mid-2008.

The team had been put up for sale by their owners since before the United States Grand Prix. Attempts were made to find a buyer before the entry deadline. Even rumours that Chinese company Chery Automobile among those involved in talks to save HRT.

Personally, I think this is both sad and good news for Formula 1. Mostly sad, because you've got a team leaving F1 that means down to 22 drivers, 11 teams not a lot of opportunity for drivers and mechanics now with the grid reduced. I Also, think the F1 fans do love the underdog teams, which includes myself with the teams like Minardi, Super Aguri and Marussia. However, I think it's also good news too for Formula 1,  sometimes their cars were often too slow for Formula 1, expressly when both cars don't qualify for the first race of the season (Australian Grand Prix 2011 and 2012). Anyway, a sad day when any team leaves Formula one.

End of blog for now, new post soon, bye.

It's been 25 years since Adrian Newey has been designing Formula One cars. And last week, Adrian Newey latest F1 car he designed the Red Bull RB8 won the F1 contractors championship with Red Bull once again at the United States Grand Prix and won the drivers championship for Sebastian Vettel for a third time in a row this season. To celebrate the last 25 years of Adrian Newey designing formula one cars, a top six F1 cars designed by Adrian Newey.

Which included a third place each for Ivan Capelli and Maurício Gugelmin. And a second place for Ivan Capelli at the 1988 Portuguese Grand Prix, 10 seconds behind Alain Prost's MP4-4 Turbo Honda. And the only car in this top six that doesn't have a race win or F1 constructor championship with its glory.

Youtube video below of Jackie Stewart driving the March 881 with some opinions of it.

Number 5: 1998 McLaren MP4-13

Also, David Coulthard won a grand prix in that car and Mika Hakkinen won eight grand prixs that season to concluded with the 1998 F1 drivers championship for Hakkinen.

Youtube video below of Mika Hakkinen driving the MP4-13 at Suzuka to his first F1 world drivers championship.

Number 4: 2010 Red Bull RB6
Story: The car that won Red Bull its first ever F1 constructors championship for the team and won four grand prixs for Mark Webber and five grand prixs for Sebastian Vettel to concluded with the 1998 F1 drivers championship for Vettel. Also Vettel named his RB6 "Luscious Liz" and then later with a new chassis called "Randy Mandy". Underneath the RB6 a Renault 2.4 litre V8 to win those championships.

Number 3: 1996 Williams FW18

Number 1: Williams FW14B
Story: This is possibly the best F1 car that Adrian Newey has ever designed. The FW14B was designed by Adrian Newey and Patrick Head. The FW14B was powered by a 3.5 litre V10 Renault engine, the Williams FW14B was the most technically sophisticated car on the grid in 1992. By 1992 the FW14B featured a semi automatic gearbox, active suspension, traction control and for a brief period anti-lock brakes which took Williams fifteen poles, ten grand prix wins that season and a F1 constructors championship as-well. Which, Riccardo Patrese took a pole and a grand prix win. While, Nigel Mansell took fourteen poles and nine grand prix wins to concluded with the 1992 F1 drivers championship for Nigel Mansell and his only one as-well. And that's my is my number one car that Adrian Newey has designed in Formula One.

Youtube video below of Nigel Mansell taking the FW14B a famous win at Silverstone.

Many more years of Adrian Newey designing F1 cars.

Valentino Rossi finally won a race, wait I mean rally this season (a win is a win)

So last weekend (23-25/11/12) was the annual Monza Rally Show and two main drivers who was at the Rally was current Yamaha MotoGP champion and four time motorcycling champion (two MotoGP champ and two 250cc champ) Jorge Lorenzo and nine times Motorcyling champion (seven MotoGP/500cc champ, one time 250cc champ, 125cc champ ) and returning Yamaha rider The Doctor himself Valentino Rossi. (By the way I do like Valentino Rossi Ford Fiesta RS WRC Monster Engery livery rally car below.)

So the Rally itself, the final results saw The Doctor won this years Monza Rally ahead of former Le Mans 24 hour winner and Le Mans legend Rinaldo Capello by just 2.8 seconds. Jorge Lorenzo meanwhile, finished 10th place in his Rally debut in his Cirteon DS3 WRC, two and a half minutes behind his new/old team-mate.

Among other familiar names in the Rally were former Tech3 and 2013 works Ducati rider Andrea Dovizioso finished 5th in a Cirteon DS3 WRC, 90 seconds behind The Doctor at the end of the rally. While, former MotoGP rider Loris Capirossi finished 34th in a Peugeot 207 S2000 car.

Here's a YouTube video below of Valentino Rossi highlights of the rally and winning the rally and doing some donuts from the Former Motorcycling World Champion. Enjoy.

Also, another YouTube video of Valentino Rossi vs Rinaldo Capello on the last stage at the start/finish straight at this years Monza Rally Show. Enjoy.

2012 Brazilian Grand Prix Review, Sebastian Vettel three times a champion

2012 Brazilian Grand Prix Review of round twenty and last round of the F1 season at Interlagos on the outskirts of São Paulo, and thoughts on the race as well. And Sebastian Vettel winning his third F1 World Drivers Championship in a row.

Good points

  • Jenson Button (race win)
  • Ferrari (Fernando Alonso finished 2nd; Felipe Massa finished 3rd and second place in the constructors championship ahead of McLaren)
  • Mark Webber (finished 4th)
  • Nico Hülkenberg (finished 5th, despite leading the race and crashing out Lewis Hamilton out of the race)
  • Sebastian Vettel (finishing 6th, winning his third F1 World Drivers Championship in a row.)
  • Michael Schumacher (finished 7th, on his last ever race)
  • Jean-Éric Vergne (finished 8th)
  • Kamui Kobayashi (finished 9th, final race for Sauber)
  • Caterham (Vitaly Petrov finished 11th, giving Caterham 10th place in the constructors championship, ahead of Marussia; Heikki Kovalainen finished 14th, last Grand Prix for Caterham possibly)
  • Charles Pic (finished 12th, last grand prix for Marussia, going to Caterham in 2013)

Bad points

  • Lotus F1 Team (Kimi Räikkonen finished 10th, a lap down, not a great weekend from the Finn; Romain Grosjean DNF, crashing out on lap 6)
  • Williams (Pastor Maldonado DNF, crashed out of lap 2; Bruno Senna DNF, collision with Sebastian Vettel and Sergio Perez)
  • Paul Di Resta (finished 19th/DNF, crashed out on lap 69)
  • Nico Rosberg (finished 15th, a lap down)
  • Lewis Hamilton (DNF, collision with Nico Hülkenberg on lap 55)
  • Sergio Perez (DNF, collision with Bruno Senna on the first lap)

In my opinion last weekends Brazilian Grand Prix is possibly the best race I've ever seen in Formula 1, if not defiantly in my top 5 of great F1 races to end a great year of Formula 1.

Personally, Lewis Hamilton or Nico Hülkenberg should have won a wet Brazilian Grand Prix. But, due to both of them tangling up with each other on first corner of lap 55, which gives Lewis Hamilton final race at McLaren a DNF with suspension failure and Nico Hülkenberg only finishing in fifth place to give Jenson Button his third race win of the season for McLaren.

Meanwhile, Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa finished second and third in race. While, Sebastian Vettel who got spun by Bruno Senna at the start of the race, which be restarted the race in 21st place to finished in 6th place to give Sebastian Vettel his third F1 World Drivers Championship title in a row and only three points ahead of Fernando Alonso in the standing to retain his title. And only third F1 driver in Formula 1 history to achieve three drivers titles in a row (Juan Manuel Fangio 1954-57 and Michael Schumacher 2000-04). So contractions to Sebastian Vettel for winning his third World Drivers title and contractions to Red Bull as-well for winning the constructors championship for a third time in a row a fortnight ago in Austin.

Now bring on 2013, for another season of Formula 1. Only three and a half months to go for that.

End of blog for now, new post soon, bye.

Confirmed Pastor Maldonado and Valtteri Bottas driving for Williams in 2013, Bruno Senna out of Williams for 2013

Before I go and jumped into the Williams news this week, 2012 Brazilian Grand Prix Review post will be posted later in the day, due to the lateness because I have been busy with work commitments. But, for now Williams news.

It has been confirmed that Williams has signed by both Pastor Maldonado and Valtteri Bottas as their drivers for the 2013 Formula 1 season. Which means, Bruno Senna is out of a drive at Williams for the 2013 season.

In my opinion, no surprises that Pastor Maldonado and Valtteri Bottas will be driving for Williams next season. This news was rumoured a few months back that was confirmed yesterday (28/11/12).

As for Bruno Senna, I still believe that Bruno Senna is a talented driver. I think he will drive either the remanding Force India driver or the remanding Caterham drive next season, if he brings in the same sponsorship money next season. If not, this will possibly Bruno Sennas' last season in Formula 1.

Anyway, end of post for now, new post soon, bye.

A new NASCAR Champion is born

Despite Penske team didn't won the Indy Car Series with Will Power early in the season. But, in NASCAR last Sunday (18/11/12), Brad Keselowski became the first Penske driver ever to clinch a NASCAR Sprint Cup title with 15th at Homestead, as Jimmie Johnson retired with a transmission problem with 24 laps still remaining to give Brad Keselowski his first NASCAR Sprint Cup title.

Meanwhile Jeff Gordon took the final NASCAR race win of 2012 season at Homestead-Miami Speedway at the Ford EcoBoost 400. While, Jeff Gordon's best friend Clint Bowyer, finished the race second place behind Gordon and his result, added to Johnson's DNF/36th place, meant he finished the Chase as championship in runner-up place.

So therefore, contractions to Brad Keselowski winning his first NASCAR Sprint Cup title. Also, contractions to Penske for winning their first NASCAR Sprint owners' Championship. And finally to Dodge the winners teams car, first for the Dodge brand since 1975 and their last for a long while as-well. But contracts to the champions below.

End of post for now, new post soon. Bye.

Top six Michael Schumacher F1 races

Michael Schumacher is retiring after this weekends Brazilian Grand Prix. And to celebrate this his top six F1 races of all time. There were so many races to choose from, if there any races I have missed this is only my opinion folks. So here is my top six starting with:

Number 6: 2000 Japanese Grand Prix
Story: Throughtout the race a great battle between Michael Schumacher and Mika Häkkinen throughout the race. Häkkinen took the lead at the start throughout the race until lap 40, when Michael Schumcher took the lead after the second set of pit-stops and top the race win and his third F1 world drivers title and his first for driving with Ferrari   and Ferrari's first drivers title since 1979.

Number 5: 1992 Belgium Grand Prix
Story: First ever Formula 1 race win from Michael Schumacher. A wet/dry race, were Michael Schumacher in his Benetton B192 done the right tactics at the right time when the weather change for wet tyres to take his first race win ahead of both Williams drivers. (video highlights of the race below)

Number 4: 2006 Brazilian Grand Prix
Story: Final Grand Prix in his Ferrari career and Michael Schumacher going into his first retirement. Had a puncture on his sixth lap while battling with Giancarlo Fisichella, which means Schumacher came from 20th place to 4th place. He gone into his first retirement to remembered him how great driver he really was. (video highlights of the race below)

Number 3: 1996 Spanish Grand Prix
Story: This race, Michael Schumacher's first Ferrari victory, possibly his best wet race in his career. In the torrential rain in a unreliable Ferrari F310, he produced a stunning drive, and is a prime example of why he earned the nickname "Rainmaster". This race showed how great a talent Michael Schumacher really is for Ferrari needsfor the next ten years. (video highlights of the race below)

Number 2: 1999 Malaysian Grand Prix
Story: Michael Schumacher returned to Formula One having recovered from his broken leg from a first lap crash at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone three months before. Schumacher took pole position by nearly a second ahead of team-mate Eddie Irvine, and on lap four of the race slowed and allowed his team-mate Eddie Irvine to pass him. Later on, after all pit stops had been completed, Schumacher allowed Irvine to pass again, which meant that Irvine went on to win the race and Schumacher finished in second place to give Irvine an opportunity to win the 1999 F1 world drivers title, which he never won. But, yet again a brilliant achievement from a returning Schumacher. (video highlights of the race below)

Number 1: 1998 Hungarian Grand Prix
Story: Started behind both McLarens' on the grid and the first half of the race if it would give Mika Häkkinen victory. But, Ferrari technical director and now Mercedes team manager Ross Brawn changed Schumacher strategy from a 2-stop strategy to a 3-stop strategy, which was seen as a masterstroke by doing 17 qualifying style laps in the middle of the race to win the race overall. Meanwhile, Häkkinen fell to 6th after gearbox problems in the closing stages of the race. (video highlights of the race below)

End of an era for a Legend in Formula one.

Post 300, 2012 United States Grand Prix Review, Hamilton wins, Vettel three points better off and Brazilian Grand Prix predictions

This is post 300 on my blog, that's my little celebration on this blog. So 2012, United States Grand Prix review of round nineteen of the F1 season at Circuit of the Americas near Austin, Texas, and predictions for this weekends Brazilian Grand Prix.

Good points

  • McLaren (Lewis Hamilton wins; Jenson Button finished 5th)
  • Red Bull (Sebastian Vettel finished 2nd, which means Red Bull are F1 constructors champions for the third time in a row)
  • Ferrari (Fernando Alonso finished 3rd; Felipe Massa finished 4th, despite starting from 11th from a five grid penalty due to gearbox change to help Fernando Alonso up the grid more)
  • Lotus F1 Team (Kimi Räikkonen finished 6th; Romain Grosjean finished 7th)
  • Nico Hülkenberg (finished 8th)
  • Williams (Pastor Maldonado finished 9th; Bruno Senna finished 10th)
  • Vitaly Petrov (finished 17th, ahead of Heikki Kovalainen, the two Marussias' the two HRTs')

Bad points
  • Sergio Perez (finished 11th, outside of the points on his nearly home grand prix)
  • Mercedes AMG (Nico Rosberg finished 13th; Michael Schumacher finished 16th)
  • Paul di Resta (finished 15th)
  • Jean-Éric Vergne (DNF, suspension damage)
  • Mark Webber (DNF, alternator)

This race was a race of cat and mouse, cat being Lewis Hamilton and the mouse being Sebastian Vettel. Vettel leading the race for 41 laps. Until lap 42 were Hamilton took the lead from Vettel. And took Lewis Hamilton to his forth race win of the season and possibly his last race win for McLaren. With next season Lewis Hamilton moving over to Mercedes to race.

Sebastian Vettel finished in second place and Fernando Alonso finished third at the end of the race, ahead of Ferrari team-mate Felipe Massa. Which, extends Vettel the lead of the F1 driver championship by 13 points ahead of Fernando Alonso with only a race to go. Sebastian Vettel will only need a top four result if Fernando Alonso wins the race to be world champion for a third time in a row. Fernando Alonso needs at least a top three result if Sebastian Vettel doesn't finish in the top 10 to be world champion for a third time in his career.

While in the constructor's championship, Red Bull won the F1 constructors champions for the third time in a row at Austin with a race to spare. So Congratulations to Red Bull for winning the constructors championship for a third time in a row.

And so this weekend is the Brazilian Grand Prix at Interlagos outskirts of São Paulo for the final round of the season. This race will decide the winner of the 2012 F1 world drivers championship. And before I start I got the predictions right for once again last time out for the top three.

So predictions for the race: Sebastian Vettel for the win and for the F1 world drivers championship as-well in the Red Bull, ahead of team-mate Mark Webber in the other Red Bull. while Fernando Alonso will finished in third in the Ferrari. Don't forget the two McLaren drivers, Felipe Massa, the two Lotus drivers and Pastor Maldonado either for a podium as-well.

A great race and a great return of Formula 1 back in the USA.

End of blog for now, new post soon, bye.

So a KTM X-Bow RR round the Nürburgring Nordschleife faster than a Ferrari Enzo?

Long story short the KTM X-Bow came out in 2008. The X-Bow weight just under 800kg uses a turbocharged four-cylinder 2 litre Audi engine producing 237 bhp and a top speed of 135 mph.

Then in 2011, KTM bought out the evolution of the car called the KTM X-Bow R with the turbo Audi engine tuned to round 300 hp.

Now, KTM have came out another evolution of the car called the KTM X-BOW RR.

The new KTM X-BOW RR now has a 360 bhp turbocharged four-cylinder 2 litre Audi weighing in at just 820kg gives a top speed of 149 mph. So the question from the title above, around the 13 miles Nurburgring Nordschleife, does the KTM X-BOW RR faster than a Ferrari Enzo? Well close, 7:25.72, just only 0.02 seconds slower than a Ferrari Enzo. Not bad achievement from a brand that usually builds motorcycles in my opinion. Youtube video below of the lap to enjoy.

1987 Porsche 962

Its been 30 years since Group C was introduced by the FIA in 1982. Basically, Group C sports cars were anything go sports cars that produces over 900 bhp at the end of the Group C era. But, instead of the more usual limits on engine capacity in Group C back then, it placed limits on fuel consumption. The FIA applied the same concept in its Group C rules. It limited cars to a minimum weight of 800 kg and a maximum fuel capacity of 100 litres. With competitors restricted to five refueling stops within a 1000 kilometer distance (620 miles), the cars were effectively allowed 600 litres per 1000 kilometers.

And one example of a Group C race car is the 1987 Porsche 962. The 962 had a Porsche 3 litre turbo flat-6 and ground effects underneath to give the 962 producing around over 900 bhp. In 1987, Hans-Joachim Stuck, Derek Bell and Al Holbert won that years 24 Hours of Le Mans race with the Porsche 962.

In this video below, the Porsche 962 is driven by Chris Harris at Porsche's test track in Germany. Enjoy the video below.

A great 40th birthday present

This year M-division of BMW celebrates its 40th birthday. A great birthday present, after a 20-year absence from DTM, BMW and Bruno Spengler returned this year and won the drivers, teams and manufacture championship with the slightly stoned-looking matte black M3 to win at Hockenheim last month. Now that's what I call a 40th birthday present.

Happy 40th Birthday M.

F1 United States Grand Prix Predictions and a flying lap from an American Legend

Predictions for this weekends Formula 1 United States Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas near Austin, Texas and for first time in five year Formula 1 returns to the United States of America.

So predictions for the race itself, Lewis Hamilton for the win in the McLaren, Sebastian Vettel second in his Red Bull, Fernando Alonso third in his Ferrari. Don't forget Mark Webber, Jenson Button, Felipe Massa, the two Lotus drivers, the two Mercedes AMG drivers, Pastor Maldonado, or Sergio Perez either.

And finally an on-board flying lap video below of the new track driven by none other than 1978 Formula One World Champion Mario Andretti in his 1978 Lotus 79, from three weeks ago.

Fight! (in NASCAR Style! of course)

F1 Predictions for the US Grand Prix will be tomorrow. But this post, there is no way you will not going to see this at this weekends United States Formula 1 Grand Prix.

In last weeks NASCAR Round 37 race at Phoenix International Raceway for the AdvoCare 500, were Clint Bowyer and Jeff Gordon crashed each other in the middle of the race to finish any chance of Clint Bowyer winning this seasons NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Where in the pit lane, both Clint Bowyer and Jeff Gordon pit crews has a big fight in the pit lane, even the drivers gone into the fight as-well! Youtube video below shows the drama in the pits.

Meanwhile, Brad Keselowski takes the lead of the Drivers' Championship ahead of Jimmie Johnson with a round to go at Homestead-Miami Speedway for the Ford EcoBoost 400 this Sunday night.

Valencia MotoGP Review, a great win and a great race for Dani Pedrosa

A Quick review on the race from last Sundays race (11/11/12) at the Valencia Motorcycle Grand Prix in the Circuit Ricardo Tormo outside of Valencia for the last round of this years MotoGP season.

A great win and a great race for Dani Pedrosa on his Repsol Honda, despite staring from the pit lane for changing his bike for dry tyres on a drying track. Pedrosa passed everyone on the grid until the front battling Jorge Lorenzo on his works Yamaha for the lead, until mid-way through the race, when Lorenzo tried to lapped James Ellison, then the 2012 MotoGP champion crashed out in style, giving him his retirement of the season. Which gives Dani Pedrosa his seven race win of the season.

Meanwhile, Katsuyuki Nakasuga who is subtitling for an injured Ben Spies for the last round of the season finished second with 37 seconds behind race winner Pedrosa. While, 2007 and 2011 MotoGP champion Casey Stoner on his Repsol Honda finished third on his last MotoGP race as his now retired from motorcycling. Meanwhile his replacement for 2013, current Moto2 champion Marc Márquez started last in his final Moto2 race to finish with a win. So watch him 2013 in MotoGP.

Last to win the race easy eh.

WRC and IRC round 13 recaps

While, Loeb's Citreon team-mate Mikko Hirvonen finished third in his Citroen DS3.

Sébastien Loeb also took Michelin 250th in the WRC as well.

Meanwhile last weekend, was round thirteen and final ever round of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge was held at the Rally of Cyprus in Limassol (2nd-4th November) was won by WRC regular Nasser Al-Attiyah in his Ford Fiesta RRC and his first Intercontinental Rally Challenge victory of 2012, 3 minutes and 35 seconds ahead of 2011 and 2012 IRC champion Andreas Mikkelsen in his Škoda Fabia S2000 who finished in second place in the rally and had a few punters in the rally. Andreas Mikkelsen won this years IRC championship on the first stage after Works Škoda drivers Jan Kopecky and Juho Hanninen did not entered the rally. The Filth and the Fury, The Sex Pistols. No wait, Kimi Räikkönen and Sebastian Vettel four letter rants on the podium

Formula 1 drivers have been told not to swear during media interviews from now on. Governing body the FIA have issued the demand after both Kimi "Johnny Rotten" Räikkönen and Sebastian "Steve Jones" Vettel swore, live on air, while on the podium after last Sunday's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. As this video below shows.

I did miss this due to I just left to gone out with my friends to the pub.

But, Kimi Räikkönen does have some previous experience with rude four letter words, during on Martin Brundle's grid walk at Brazil 2006, asking why he missed Michael Schumacher/Pele presentation? he should have said "Yeah, I gone to the toilet." but instead he said "Yeah, I was having a shit.".

But, some of his radio messages during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix last weekend were just so genius to listen.

Classic Kimi

Ciao Max Biaggi, retiring from racing

Four times 250cc world champion and two times WSB champion Max Biaggi has announced that he will retire from racing. The 41 year old Italian addressed a packed press conference in Vallelunga in his native city of Rome this week (7/11/12) where he revealed his decision to stop racing.

Biaggi has enjoyed a great career that spanned over 20 years competing in 250cc, 500cc, MotoGP and WSB championships. His first world title came way back in 1994 with his most recent success coming this year when he won the WSB title for the second time for Aprilia. But, his most rememberable moment in his career came in 2001 and 2002 with his rivalry with Valentino Rossi for the 500cc and MotoGP championships.

So ciao Max Biaggi you had a great motor-racing career.

Testing times for Nissan (in V8 Supercars of course)

The brand new Nissan Altima V8 Supercar has taken to the track for the first time, just days after it was first revealed with its new livery in Melbourne.

The Altima did its first laps at Calder Park Raceway, a race track on the outside of Melbourne and with most of the Kelly Racing team (which will be renamed Nissan Motorsport next season) are in Abu Dhabi for last weekend’s V8 Supercar round. The driving duties were left to team co-owner and driver Todd Kelly.

But come the Clipsal 500 season opening race in Adelaide in February 2013, the return of Nissan in V8 Supercars will really start.

2012 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Review, Kimi back winning

2012 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix review of round eighteen of the F1 season at Yas Marina Circuit outside of Abu Dhabi, and thoughts on the race as well. And the return of winning ways from Kimi Räikkonen and Lotus (well sort of for Lotus).

Good points

  • Kimi Räikkonen (won the race, first race win for Räikkonen since Spa 2009)
  • Fernando Alonso (finished 2nd)
  • Sebastian Vettel (finishing 3rd, despite stating from the pit lane from having no fuel left at the end of qualifying, (similar to Hamilton at Spainish Grand Prix) )
  • Williams (Pastor Maldonado finished 5th; Bruno Senna finished 8th)
  • Kamui Kobayashi (finished 6th)
  • Paul Di Resta (finished 9th)
  • Daniel Ricciardo (finished 10th)
  • Heikki Kovalainen (finished 13th, 48 seconds behind the leaders at the end)
  • Timo Glock (finished 14th, under a minute behind the leaders at the end)

Bad points

  • Mercedes AMG (Nico Rosberg DNF, collision with Narian Karthikeyan on the lap 8; Michael Schumacher finished 11th, puncture late in the race that cost him points)
  • Narian Karthikeyan (DNF, collision with Nico Rosberg on the lap 8)
  • Lewis Hamilton (DNF, fuel pressure)
  • Nico Hülkenberg (DNF, collision with Bruno Senna at the start of the race)
  • Sergio Perez (finished 15th, collision with Mark Webber and Romain Grosjean on lap 38)
  • Mark Webber (DNF, collision with Sergio Perez and Romain Grosjean on lap 38)
  • Romain Grosjean (DNF, collision with Mark Webber and Sergio Perez on lap 38)
  • Charles Pic (DNF, Engine)

Possibly the same as the Singapore Grand Prix early on the season this was a race of two parts, the first part was a dominating race from Lewis Hamilton from starting in pole position to leading the race, until the start of lap 19 when his fuel pressure in his McLaren give him another DNF this season and possibly any change of a final win at McLaren. The second part after Hamilton DNF was Kimi Räikkonen took the lead to conclude with a race win on Sunday to give Räikkonen his first win of the season and his first since Spa 2009 in his Ferrari days.

A great win from Räikkonen, done a soild drive to win in my opinion, when there was chaos behind him he kept his head down and win. Also, a Lotus F1 win in name for the first time (if you want to classify this as a Lotus win, last time this team won a F1 race was with Fernando Alonso at Fuji 2008 as Renault) since Ayrton Senna at Detroit in 1987.

Meanwhile, Fernando Alonso finished in second place in his Ferrari, while championship leader Sebastian Vettel in his Red Bull finished third at the end of the race, despite stating from the pit lane from having no fuel left at the end of qualifying, he would have started from third place on the grid and would have won the race again if that didn't happen. Which, only gives Vettel a slim lead of the F1 driver championship from 13 points to 10 points ahead of Fernando Alonso with only two races to go.

While in the constructor's championship, Red Bull are still leading the standings from 91 points to 82 points ahead of Ferrari, who are still second in the constructors standings. Which means, Red Bull can win the F1 constructor's championship at Circuit of the Americas at the new place for the United States Grand Prix in two weeks time if Red Bull are 43 points ahead of second place in the standings with only two races to go.

End of blog for now, new post soon, bye.
