Jacques Villeneuve will enter this year's Indianapolis 500 with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports it was announced on Wednesday (16/2/14).
The former Formula 1 world champion, who recently announced that he is to contest the 2014 World Rallycross Championship, who is a previous winner of the Indy 500, having triumphed at the oval en route to the 1995 CART title.
Villeneuve's latest Indianapolis 500 start will come after a 19-year break, the most in the event's history.
That's not the last of a former Formula 1 driver in the Indy 500, former Williamsf1 driver, former CART champion and 2000 Indianapolis 500 winner Juan Pablo Montoya will also be entering this year's Indianapolis 500 with Team Penske. And just like Villeneuve, his latest Indianapolis 500 start will come after a 14-year break.
And to finish off, instead of a one off race he will be racing a full season in the Indycar Series with Penske after seven seasons in Nascar with Earnhardt Ganassi Racing.
